We are currently seeking a Law Enforcement Trainer/Instructor - Journeyman to join our team in Anniston, Alabama (US-AL), United States (US).

Position's General Duties and Tasks: 

In the role of Law enforcement Trainer/Instructor - Journeyman in support of the Federal Management Agency's (FEMA) Center for Disaster Preparedness (CDP) provides training support for a myriad of courses that prepares Federal, state, local, tribal, private sector, and international responders to respond to all hazards to include terrorist attacks using weapons of mass destruction. Instruction techniques include direct, indirect, experiential, independent and interactive methods. You will be responsible for course delivery, development of delivery plans, testing, and providing recommendations for course content improvement and general facilities enhancements. May participate in training exercises as lane officer in charge or as a role player to enhance the realism of the event. Training events may last anywhere from one hour to five days depending on complexity and need.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10 years of experience within one of the emergency response disciplines that support all-hazard incident response: law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, emergency medical service, hazardous materials, Governmental administrative, healthcare, public health, public safety communication, public works, agriculture, education, citizen/community volunteer, information technology, security and safety, search and rescue, and transportation. Comparable military experience or federal/private sector experience may be acceptable 

  • 5 years of current instructional experience 

  • All-hazards experience with man-made, natural disasters, or CBRNE 

  • Instructor training (minimum 32-40 hour course) from a reputable institution (college, university, medical school, US military service school, federal training institution, state or municipal training academy, or other recognized professional instructor training and/or education program

  • Completion of IS 100/200/700/800 is required prior to start date

  • US Citizen 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience 

  • Must successfully pass a background investigation 


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Completion of ICS 300/400 

  • Exceptional ability to apply adult education principals and theory  

  • Exceptional class presentation, facilitation, and management

  • Demonstrated exceptional knowledge of applicable metrics and how to measure and report on them  

  • Exceptional coaching skills, process skills, and consulting skills  

  • Experience with National Incident Management System (NIMS), Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), the National Response Framework (NRF) and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) 

  • Basic time and project management skills

  • Master’s Degree preferred
