We are currently seeking a Design Lead to join our team. Position will be primarily Remote except for occasional in person meetings based upon the customer’s request and deliverables

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

As a Design Lead, you will be responsible for establishing User Design (UX) and Human Centered Design (HCD) best practices and process, including establishing an UX strategy and providing hands-on support in performing UX analysis and producing key UX artifacts. This includes designing and creating customer journeys and high-level screen designs (sketches/wireframes) by working closely with business owners and customers to help build the right product. Additionally, the Design Lead will work integrally across the larger Program team, throughout the development cycle to provide guidance on implementation of the designs and modify designs as requirements change. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in an Agile development environment, demonstrating ability to manage both time and scope to fit tasks into quick development iterations:

  • Establish and employ participatory design, creative brainstorming and other techniques to collaborate with software developers, systems engineers and other product team members as part of an agile software development team
  • Ensure applications meet Accessibility Standards, including WCAG 2.1 and Section 508
  • Collect and analyze user research data to understand the user population and identify trends and insights
  • Map workflows, user paths, create storyboards, wireframes, mockups, low and high fidelity prototypes and write UI specifications to support development across multiple applications and platforms
  • Design graphic, icons and other visual elements as necessary
  • Evaluate designs using user-centric design techniques such as UI reviews and cognitive walk-throughs
  • Maintain an awareness of current trends in technology design and usability, and share this information across multiple teams
  • Lead working groups and/or meetings with application stakeholders to discuss user requirements and/or present wireframes and mockups

 

Required Education/Experience

  • Strong portfolio of research and UX design, including: 
    • Early concepts, wireframes and prototypes
    • User research, findings and recommendations
    • Personas and journey maps
    • Responsive web and mobile app design
    • Case studies describing UX methodology.
  • Ability to demonstrate your process, present your work, and articulate your design decisions to stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team, publicly white-boarding, and working directly with cross-functional partners to identify a UX strategy
  • Experience conducting usability testing, 1:1 user interviews, ride-alongs or other user research and analyzing the data to identify UX recommendations
  • Experience independently driving the design review cycle and closing on design requirements
  • Experience with accessible design
  • Familiarity with common design and collaboration tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, Axure, Miro, etc.
  • Experience leading a team of visual designers and UI developers on ensuring final assets comply with UX best practices and meet user and business needs.
  • Experience as a UX or HCD team lead, mentoring and coaching key stakeholders in adopting UX best practices
  • Excellent communication and writing skills (ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in User Experience, Experience Design, Interaction Design, HCI, other relevant degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-7 years of work experience as a UX designer

 

Certifications/Skills

  • Portfolio demonstrating examples of work in UX
  • 2+ years’ Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with a Federal healthcare program or payer/claims process experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Residency Requirements

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Public Trust background security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information, which includes which includes a requirement of U.S. residency for three out of the last five years. US Citizens or Permanent Residents preferred.
