We are currently seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team in Melbourne, Victoria (AU-VIC), Australia (AU).

JOB FUNCTIONS, TASKS AND PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

May be required to perform all or a combination of the following duties and responsibilities in one or several of the following functional areas as determined by business necessity and individual’s knowledge, skills and abilities:

Decision Making Support:

  • Design, develop and deploy interactive visual data exploration solutions to inform business and client decision making
  • Create easy to use decision making support tools through the exploration and utilisation of captured data.
  • Derive insights and appropriate commentary on BI to help inform the business
  • Develop and deliver regular analytic dashboards that highlight key metrics, identify trends and alert issues, to maintain and improve service levels
  • Work with projects and innovations team to ensure reporting and data analysis for any new solutions is relevant, robust and delivered effectively
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data analysis and BI requirements are fully defined and understood
  • Understand a wide range of data related to the provision of ticketing services, the management and maintenance of devices and solution applications as well as data related to patronage and system financial and non-financial transactions
  • Perform other data analysis and BI duties as necessary to aid the business

Reporting:

  • Develop BI and reporting through the standard stages – gather requirements, document in a report specification document, agree the document, source the data, write the technical specification document, build and test the reporting query, build and test the BI/reporting interface and then follow a formal testing and release management process.
  • Maintain BI quality through responding to potential issues with existing reporting by investigating to confirm the issue, determining and testing the solution, and taking the solution through a formal testing and release management process
  • Develop and deliver ad-hoc analysis & BI as part of monitoring of trends, provision of insights and commentary and highlights emerging issues
  • Work with internal technology architects to establish good data and metadata governance standards and approaches
  • Support reporting and data analysis by identifying potential issues, then investigate and resolve these issues within the release management process
  • Identify trends in data and analysis & report them internally and externally where appropriate, in order to improve service levels.
  • Investigate and raise data quality and data timeliness issues, to aid in root cause analysis and resolution

Education:

  • Tertiary degree desirable
  • Knowledge Required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Software project lifecycle
  • ITIL practices
  • Reporting toolset – SQL Server, SSRS, Visual Studio, Power BI
  • Source control

Skills required: Technical and General Business Skills:

  • Relationship Management skills, required to build solid working relationships across all levels of the business, and key stakeholders. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  •  Advanced skills in SQL. Proven ability to deliver a high standard of reporting through an automated system such as SQL Server SSRS
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Power BI, data analysis and charting
  • Skills in XML, data mining, QlikView, QlikSense, “big data” reporting tools and presentation tools are desirable
