We are currently seeking a Desktop Systems Administrator Windows to join our team in Mountain View, California (US-CA), United States (US).

 

Day to Day Job Duties:

  • Provide customer service to an end user base in regards to Windows computing functionality, questions, diagnostics, assistance and consultations in one on one or group situations via in person, phone, email and video conferences, etc. Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations which may impact performance
  • Desktop, Laptop, printer and attached peripherals break/fix including hardware and software of Windows systems. Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems using advanced tools / technical knowledge to remediate customer problems and conduct scheduled installs. Performs troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repair on desktops, laptops, printers, and attached peripherals
  • Performs system upgrades, patching and compliance as required by Security Plan
  • Develop, push, troubleshoot and report on patch levels using provided tools such as Jamf and Big Fix or other patching tools
  • Test and develop OS specific, GPO’s, imaging and compliance scripts
  • Manage backups, verify and review logs, rotate tapes, monitor backup systems including RAIDs, and servers, verify client connectivity, document any issues or concerns as identified
  • Lead/manage technical projects such as OS migrations and EoL management
  • Participate in annual security audits. Implement Agency/Center mandates. Configure systems per appropriate security plans

 

Basic Qualifications/ Required Experience:

  • Minimum  8 years of directly related work experience with Desktop support
  • 6+ years supporting/troubleshooting Windows Desktop and Windows Server
  • 5+ years of troubleshooting skills and customer support skills
  • 1+ years of knowledge of PKI and/or encryption, virtual systems, RAIDS
  • 3+ years with patch management and monitoring tools and methodologies
  • 3+ years managing backup systems, various methodologies

       

Security Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

       

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience

         

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Windows scientific open-source applications
  • Experience with multi-operating system implementation and support in both Active Directory and stand-alone environments, and PIV authentication in a heterogeneous environment
  • Experience with license managers, logging servers, virtual environments
  • Experience with configuring programming environments for Python and JAVA. 
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and SAP financial software
  • Experience with configuration management software, ansible, puppet
  • Experience leading and managing small projects such as dual-factor authentication, OS migration, EoL management
  • Familiarity with USGCB, CIS, NIST, FISMA, or other standards and benchmarking
  • Understand and recommend software and hardware lifecycle for customer upgrade needs
  • Experience supporting a Science, Research, Engineering, Education, or Government environment
  • Experience with Powershell
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The candidate must be highly motivated, flexible, self-directed, and able to manage multiple tasks. 
  • The ability to work in a team environment as well as working independently in a dynamic environment is required

 

Physical Requirements:

Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence, and a computer screen; strength and mobility for racking equipment, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, retrieving, climbing and working in confined and/or awkward spaces.  Light lifting at times < 50 lbs
