NTT DATA Services currently seeks a Lead Technical Engineer/Architect to join our team in Newington, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).



Lead Technical Architect needed to provide strategic and technical planning and oversight for a large team responsible for architecture and design of solutions to meet requirements and improve quality of services delivered.  Will also provide strategic and technical panning and oversight on migration of multiple suites of application portfolios to the cloud, helping to implement efficient, scalable and cost-effective solutions.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Create and maintain architecture strategy, policies, guiding principles and standards for the enterprise.
  2. Create architecture models that support client’s strategies and goals while reducing risk.
  3. Create and implement a technical vision supported by a multi-year plan/roadmap.
  4. Evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within technology architecture.
  5. Identify ways to reduce IT costs and increase operational capability and efficiency.
  6. Identify ways to increase team’s knowledge and skills to support future growth.
  7. Provide architecture and systems processing guidance to development teams.
  8. Lead workshops, decision meetings, collaborative sessions, and executive briefings for broad range of Enterprise Architecture and IT enabling topics.
  9. Stay current on emerging technologies and their practical application to current and emerging business needs.
  10. Participate in design, development, and maintenance of solution architectures
  11. Conduct meetings with IT leadership and IT personnel from the client and other government organizations

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering.
  2. Ability to understand and envision the interaction of multiple components of the IT enterprise.
  3. Knowledge of the Cloud computing stack and Cloud architecture concepts, including virtualization, containerization, infrastructure as code, and cloud security.
  4. Knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
  5. Experience with Linux VM’s, Windows VMs, .NET Framework, Java, Middleware and COTS integration.
  6. Experience with Database Systems including Oracle, MS SQL Server, and MariaDB
  7. Experience in planning a Highly Available Architecture and Disaster Recovery
  8. Strong customer service orientation; ability to collaborate and influence.
  9. Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  10. Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Strong verbal and written communications. Comfortable delivering and presenting to client senior executives and stakeholders

Must Have Qualifications

  1. Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cloud Certified Professional or related.
  2. 5+ years of IT experience in engineering / architecting enterprise IT applications. 
  3. 5+ years of experience developing systems in a large multi-tier distributed architecture.
  4. 5+ years of experience with developing business, systems, and data architecture models.
  5. 5+ years of experience with software engineering with development skills in the J2EE, XML & SOA.
  6. 3+ years of experience with public, private, and hybrid Cloud services.
  7. Experience migrating applications to a cloud environment.
  8. Experience with mobile applications and data analytics


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
