We are currently seeking a Travel Category Director to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).


The preferred location is Plano, TX., but we are able to consider applicants in EMEA, Mexico, and all US.  


Director – Global Services / Travel Category Management


Management level definitions

Responsible for operational success, strategic alignment, and integration of activities between various NTT Operating Companies for all matters related to global sourcing and procurement   management. Fully accountable for the success of Services Procurement functions within the NTT Global Sourcing organization which include Travel, Marketing, Professional Services, HR, and Labor.  Influence strategy and set policy and direction as it pertains to Services Procurement management across NTT.  Own a significant number of measurable functional, operational, and strategic global goals or priorities directly related to the role. Assume responsibility for the successful implementation of business plans and savings objectives related to procurement management of related services across NTT Operating Companies, One NTT initiatives, and delivery organizations globally. 



  • The primary responsibility of the NTT Global Sourcing Services Category Director is to work with NTT Operating Company leadership teams to develop, implement and manage the Services Procurement and Sourcing strategy across NTT globally. The primary responsibility is to develop and implement the over-arching strategy across NTT’s multi-billion annual spend in specific categories in Services Spend, i.e.; Travel, Marketing, Professional Services, Contingent Labor, and HR to ensure alignment with the overall NTT Global Sourcing objectives, as well as broader NTT corporate goals. 


  • Responsible for all elements of the strategy, which include reduce cost, improve operational performance, develop strategic partnerships, mitigate risk, and improve the overall financial performance of NTT through its acquisition and management of Services spend. Further, it is the NTT Global Sourcing Director’s responsibility to manage the strategy on an on-going basis, ensuring it is communicated and adhered-to across all regions and Operating Companies – which includes assembling and leading cross-functional teams to drive the Services Procurement Sourcing strategy.  She/he will partner with leadership in the NTT Operating Companies, Delivery, Alliances and Global Procurement (GP) on several Services global alignment, value, and cost improvement as well as performance improvement initiatives. She/he will be a hands-on leader, working alongside other Procurement leaders and teams, as well as leadership across the NTT Operating Companies to analyze spend, assess current and changing market forces across the Services industry, and assess current commercial arrangements across NTT to identify/drive improvement opportunities for the business. 


  • The NTT Global Sourcing Director is responsible to develop working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure Services requirements are defined and demand is accurately reflected. Also, she/he will team with NTT Operating Companies to drive improved operational performance – such as supply/demand planning, cycle times, forecasting, maintenance practices and contractual compliance.  Experience across many of the Services areas is preferred but this role should include Global Travel negotiation experience with Travel Management Companies, Hotels, and Airlines.  


Technical Experience: 

  • Minimum 10-20 years of experience in progressively challenging roles in contract or Procurement chain management, strategic relationships, global sourcing, including   experience within the broad Information Technology space.


  • Must have hands-on experience managing global spend of $25+ million in the Services Categories and delivery on a global basis. Must be able to demonstrate a track record of effectively driving cost savings and performance improvement in a similar role. 


  • Hands-on leader able to drive several major, complex Services Procurement, and/or cost reduction projects while simultaneously providing leadership to peers who are likewise driving critically important projects in the Services, Indirect, or IT categories.


  • Strong understanding of Services including Travel partner sales and pricing models, as well as support and maintenance services - as practiced by the major Services vendors across the globe.  Must have demonstrated ability to effectively manage commercial and strategic relationships on a global basis with Tier-I Services suppliers, including proven ability to engage strategically at the VP and C-level with key suppliers. 


  • Experience in defining and driving key aspects of supply chain operational excellence in a global, multi-BU and Company environment – including demand planning, forecasting, maintenance optimization, performance measurement and optimization including SLAs and KPIs. 


Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, with a focus on Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, HR, Marketing or an equivalent technical or business discipline.  An advanced degree in one of these disciplines and/or an MBA is also preferred.  If lieu of a completed bachelor’s degree, then 15+ years of experience and 2+ years of college required.     


Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong analytical skills.  Must be able to assess historical spend and asset usage data from multiple disparate sources, analyze the data and layout coherent, data-driven roadmaps to achieve cost reductions and/or operational improvements.   


  • Able to analyze the current state of practices within NTT Global Sourcing and NTT Operating Companies across all Services sub-categories of spend involving multiple Services vendors and collaborate with stakeholders to forge comprehensive procurement strategies that increase leverage and drive commercial improvements with Services vendors.


  • Across the major Services sub-categories including Travel, must be able to assess ‘best practices’ and ‘pricing benchmarks’ in the industry and compare these across NTT Operating Companies, major accounts, BUs, and global regions. Develop gap analysis relative to these practices/benchmarks to help identify savings and improvement opportunities. Develop strategies that create leverage to close gaps while delivering improved value, economics, and/or operational performance to NTT.


  • Able to analyze current Services Agreements and assess alignment with end-customer Agreements. Where misalignments exist, develop, and implement strategies that improve alignment.  Collaborate with internal stakeholders across NTT Operating Companies to garner support for such improvement initiatives.


  • Must be skilled in ability to work across multiple accounts and delivery organizations globally to build aggregated demand forecasts for selected services spend and incorporate aggregated demand into negotiation strategies to increase buying power.  Demonstrated ability to manage an effective on-going demand management process and work closely with colleagues in Sales and Operations (S&OP) planning to ensure ever-changing demand requirements are properly reflected and managed.


  • Across all NTT Services supply chain and delivery, must have ability to analyze the various asset acquisition practices and identify opportunities to reduce cost and/or risk by improving these practices where such opportunities exist. Further, partner with business leadership and regional delivery leaders to drive strategy and cost reduction initiatives into the business.


  • Must have strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Executive Leadership within NTT and be able influence Leadership on key strategic initiatives that will involve challenging ‘Change Management’ elements. 


  • Highly skilled in financial analysis, and able to communicate effectively with Finance organizations.  This includes investment ROI analysis, lease vs. buy modeling, capital planning and justification, asset valuation analysis, make vs. buy modeling and ‘should cost’ analysis. 


  • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office products including Excel.


  • Strong Team Player with an ability to foster enthusiasm and drive to succeed from Team Members, Peers, and Executive Leadership including leading by example.



  • Manages organization-wide plans that impact multiple businesses and functions globally.


  • Regularly interacts with Senior Executives including VPs, SVPs, CFOs, and Procurement   Leaders internally and externally.



  • Works across multiple, complex organizations globally within multiple companies and/or regions to meet business needs in a cost-effective and expedient manner to align toward One NTT Strategy.



  • Insight and experiences with multiple Services Categories including Travel.  Direct negotiation experience as the leader of a global strategy in a diverse, complex environment including Travel Management Companies, Hotels, and Airlines. 


Change Management

  • This Category Director role is focused on driving the adoption of a One NTT strategy across NTT which is comprised of multiple Holding Companies across the globe.  Requires the ability and/or experience driving organizational transformation across a complex, diverse global organization. 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in progressively challenging roles in contract or Procurement chain management, strategic relationships, global sourcing, including experience within the broad Information Technology space.
  • Must have hands on experience managing global spend of $25+ million in the Services Categories and delivery on a global basis.
  • 5 years travel experience
  • 10 years over all contract negotiation experience
