Business Analyst – Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance (5–9 Years)
Experience: 5–9 Years
Domain: Property & Casualty Insurance
Role Type: Delivery‑Focused | Client‑Facing | Consulting
Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain expertise to support large‑scale transformation, modernization, and digital initiatives for insurers. The role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, with primary responsibility for requirements elicitation, process analysis, and stakeholder coordination, and secondary exposure to Agentic AI concepts and pre‑sales / RFP support.
The ideal candidate is a solid BA practitioner who understands P&C insurance operations end‑to‑end, can work independently with business stakeholders, and can translate complex insurance requirements into clear inputs for technology and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Core Business Analysis (Primary Focus)
- Perform requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation across P&C insurance processes, including Underwriting, Policy Administration, Endorsements, Renewals, Claims (FNOL to settlement), Billing, Rating, and Product configuration.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and working sessions with underwriters, claims teams, operations users, and SMEs.
- Translate complex coverage logic, rating rules, deductibles, limits, and business rules into clear functional requirements.
- Support solution design discussions and validate that proposed solutions align with documented requirements.
- Maintain end‑to‑end requirements traceability across development, testing, and UAT.
- Support UAT execution, defect triage, and business sign‑off from a functional perspective.
P&C Domain Contribution
- Strong working knowledge of P&C lines of business such as General Liability, Commercial Auto, Property, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella/Excess, and Specialty lines.
- Understanding of key P&C concepts including coverages (BI/PD), deductibles, limits, exclusions, endorsements, rating factors, and loss processing.
- Experience working with underwriters, claims adjusters, and operations teams.
- Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations impacting P&C insurance.
Digital & Agentic AI Awareness (Supporting Role)
- Support business analysis activities for automation, AI, and Agentic AI‑enabled use cases (e.g., underwriting triage, claims intake, document processing).
- Help translate AI‑enabled ideas into business flows, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Understand the business impact of AI and automation on underwriting and claims workflows (no expectation to design AI models).
Pre‑Sales & RFP Support (Limited / Assisted)
- Provide P&C domain and BA inputs into RFP responses and client proposals.
- Assist senior team members in preparing use cases, scope inputs, assumptions, and functional narratives.
- Participate in client discussions as a domain contributor, not as the primary solution owner.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–9 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with strong exposure to Property & Casualty insurance.
- Solid foundation in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.
- Experience working on core insurance system implementations or modernization programs.
- Ability to work directly with business users, SMEs, and delivery teams.
- Familiarity with Agile and/or hybrid delivery models.
- Exposure to digital transformation, automation, or AI concepts from a business analysis perspective.
Nice to Have
- Experience with modern P&C platforms (policy, claims, or rating systems).
- Exposure to RFPs, proposals, or presales activities.
- Basic understanding of insurance data, reporting, or reconciliation used in underwriting or claims.
