We are currently seeking a Director / Chief of Party to join our team in Arlington, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).

 

You will spend each workday helping to bring IT solutions that enable global stakeholders, local businesses, and communities to be more resilient, reduce poverty, improve human development, improve access to IT, and support education, among many other positive outcomes.  

 

As the Director you will lead an experienced management team responsible for operational planning, execution, and evaluation of a large multifaceted program. Oversees fiscal, operational, administrative, and human resources management of the program. Ensures project/programs are defined, tracked, and communicated in a consistent and effective manner, and incorporate effective change and risk management controls. Serves as the principal point of representation and liaison with external constituencies on operational matters and provides day-to-day guidance and leadership as appropriate to the management team.

 

Providing oversight of performance across the entire program. The Director shall ensure:

  • proper application of PMBOK program management best practices and activities;
  • proper planning and assignment of resources to meet service delivery requirements;
  • organize and deploy resources to meet surge requirements;
  • monitor, control, and provide corrective guidance to tasks and deliverables;
  • consolidate and approve reporting on contract funding, burn rates, and major tasks/efforts/initiatives;
  • raise concerns and risks for discussion with Government leaders, the COR, the CO, and/or company leadership;
  • recommend corrective fixes for the concerns/risks being discussed, and execute Government-approved plans to mitigate or resolve the concern/risk;
  • plan for subsequent phases of work; manage risks and relationships when dealing with Contractors partners, vendors, and sub-Contractors;
  • and other functions relating to a typical Program Management role.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 15 years of experience managing USAID activities in the below areas:
    • Liaising directly with Cos regarding contract activities and the CORs on all technical issues
    • Managing USAID contracts and buy-ins
    • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to develop program work plans, overseeing the successful implementation of these work plans, and applying lessons learned throughout the program lifecycle
    • Experience working with the Department of State and with international Governments, businesses, and local community partners   
  • 7 years of managerial/leadership experience in the below areas:
    • Experience managing teams spread across multiple locations, in multiple time zones, and with diverse cultural backgrounds
    • Managing and delivering large projects of 50 or more full-time personnel
    • Leading complex multifaceted programs within a global context

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management Certification like PMI PMP 
  • Graduate degree
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.   
  • Proven ability to build and manage dynamic, adaptable teams
  • Ability to identify inefficient processes and implement changes to improve program responsiveness and quality
  • Proven ability to manage in the International Development Space building relationships and engaging across multiple technical sectors, including technology, cybersecurity, and/or digitalization
