Backup & Cyber Resilience Engineer

Role Summary

We are seeking a Backup & Cyber Resilience Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade backup, recovery, and cyber resilience solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Data Protection
• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
• Implement immutable, air-gapped, and hardened backup architectures.
• Configure and manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and replication.
• Ensure backup data integrity, encryption, and secure access controls.
• Perform regular restore testing to validate recoverability.

Cyber Resilience & Recovery
• Support ransomware-aware backup and recovery strategies.
• Participate in cyber recovery planning, including clean-room and isolated recovery environments.
• Execute recovery procedures during cyber incidents and major outages.
• Maintain detailed recovery runbooks and operational documentation.
• Support tabletop exercises and cyber recovery drills.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
• Design and support DR solutions aligned with RTO/RPO requirements.
• Coordinate DR testing and validation activities.
• Work with application and business teams to prioritize recovery sequencing.
• Ensure recovery strategies align with Business Impact Analysis (BIA) outcomes.

Cloud & Hybrid Environments
• Manage backup and recovery for on-prem, cloud, and hybrid workloads.
• Support cloud native and third-party backup solutions.
• Implement cross-region and cross-site replication strategies.
• Ensure cloud backup architectures meet security and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

Experience
• 5–7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise backup, recovery, or data protection
• Proven experience supporting cyber recovery or major incident response
• Experience operating in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments

Technical Skills
Backup & Recovery Platforms
• Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, Commvault, NetBackup (one or more)
• Snapshot-based and image-based backups
• Object storage and immutable backup technologies

Infrastructure
• Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V
• Storage: SAN, NAS (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE)
• Operating systems: Windows and Linux

Disaster Recovery
• DR architecture and testing
• RTO/RPO design and optimization
• Failover and failback procedures

Cloud
• Hybrid cloud recovery models

Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work calmly under pressure during incidents
• Clear documentation and communication skills
• Strong collaboration with Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Application teams
• Operational discipline and attention to detail
