Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data & Analytics Engineer (G11) who will also serve as a team lead/manager, combining deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities.
This role is responsible for driving the design and delivery of scalable data solutions on Microsoft Azure, while leading a team of data engineers, ensuring high-quality execution, and aligning data initiatives with business strategy.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of hands-on engineering excellence, team leadership, and stakeholder management, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade data architectures on Azure.
- Define and enforce best practices, standards, and governance for data engineering and analytics.
- Architect and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and scalable processing solutions using Azure Databricks.
- Lead implementation of Microsoft Fabric solutions (Lakehouse, Data Engineering, Data Factory, Power BI integration).
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of data platforms.
People Management & Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers (including hiring, onboarding, and performance management).
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and career development for team members.
- Allocate work, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.
Stakeholder & Strategic Alignment
- Act as a bridge between business and technology, translating business needs into scalable data solutions.
- Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, and leadership to define data strategy and roadmap.
- Provide technical advisory and thought leadership on data platform evolution.
Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure data security, compliance, and governance standards are implemented and maintained.
- Oversee data quality frameworks, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and engineering practices.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, and database management.
- Proven experience in a technical leadership or team management role (leading teams, not just mentoring).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (must-have).
- Strong expertise in SQL (query optimization, performance tuning).
- 3+ years of experience with Python, including exposure to Machine Learning concepts.
- 3–5 years of experience with Azure Databricks.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric (minimum 1 year).
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend, SSIS, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and architecture design.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and scale engineering teams.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience managing project delivery, timelines, and resource planning.
Nice to Have
- Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery models.
- Exposure to data governance frameworks and enterprise data strategy.
- Certifications in Azure (Data Engineer/Architect).
