We are currently seeking a DNS Engineer to join our team in Bangalore/Noida/Chennai, India (IN).

 

The Network Infrastructure Services team is in need of talented DNS engineers to build and operate a global franchise critical DNS/DHCP/NTP infrastructure. We need creative engineers and technologists to help us keep critical systems up while transforming the infrastructure from a traditional out of the box DNS/DHCP services to a modern service incorporating modern user facing APIs, automation, industry leading appliances, unit/regression tests and continuous integration and operational support.   The Network Infrastructure Services team routinely works on tasks related to: availability, latency, capacity, code lifecycle, appliance deployment and configuration management. We collaborate with our engineering teams to release new services and our Command Center teams to solve issues impacting the bank’s users and services.  This position has a rotational on call operation aspect for which all team members partake with on call duties on the weekends and off business hours.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience / Strong understanding of Active Directory (DNS administration & site replications)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix IP conflicts and DNS/DHCP/NTP issues on a large Enterprise network  
  • Understanding of basic network technologies (router, switch, firewall) and their function
  • Ability to analyze existing infrastructure and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Ability to answer common to complex questions surrounding DNS
  • Strong attention to detail and with excellent problem-solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to think critically about impact and escalate when an issue requires extra technical expertise
  • Ability to analyze and understand a variety of existing and emerging business requirements, interface with technology engagement teams as a fully seasoned and proficient integrations/operations engineer, in providing best in class solutions that align to meet business and technology requirements
  • Integrations/Operations minded individual with polished collaboration, written, and communication skills and a proven track record interacting with various levels of management, clients and technical team members in delivering technical solutions.
  • Plan and coordinate project deliverables across multiple service providers in support of network infrastructure project requirements.
  • Manage and contribute to a portfolio of network infrastructure projects from design, build, through implementation and operational turn-over, with varying levels of complexity.
  • Collaborate with other internal/external teams such as engineering, and requestors on core design requirements/standards and impact assessment.
  • Leverage designated tools and resources to implement technical designs/engineering work orders during a pre-approved change window as necessary.
  • Perform design validation testing and pre-work in non-production environments when necessary to ensure successful implementation in production.
  • Maintain accurate records of requests and communications by utilizing Bank’s systems of record
  • Communicate the status and progress to the customer on a daily basis via the System of Record and respond to requests from customers in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to bank processes, such as representing the change in Change Committee meetings & Design Review sessions.
  • Create, modify, and represent appropriate change records required prior to implementing or hand-off.
  • Provide implementation support, as needed, to vendors and internal teams during and off business hours.
  • Required Skills:

  • UNIX (Linux)
  • Programming (SH, Ksh)
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IPAM technologies and NTP
  • Experience with ALU VitalQIP, BIND versions
  • Knowledge of Domain Registrars, DNS ANYCAST concepts
  • Superior competency in working in a UNIX based environment without supervision components, such as proxies, firewalls, routers, switches, and Load balancers
  • Proven ability to manage short and long term engagements with multiple project tracks and teams
  • Firm understanding of IT Service Management processes, program and project management (i.e. MS Project, Excel, Word, etc)
  • Proven ability to manage and set client expectations
  • Ability to manage client escalations and negotiate resolution
  • Perform on-call DNS support during weekend and off business hours
  • Network Requirements
  • 8-10 Years of Network Support Experience

    Ability to write simple Python programs.

    Advanced skills with Cisco (with some Juniper) CCNP preferred

    LAN protocols (Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN trunking)

    Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, and BGP)

    Knowledge of Network Management tools (Splunk, and Wireshark)
