We are currently seeking a Data Engineer Advisor to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).

Role: Data Engineer - ADF

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Git, along with a solid understanding of data warehouse design and development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting data integration pipelines and data warehouse solutions while working closely with business stakeholders and end users to understand data requirements and deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions.

The role requires strong technical skills, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills, with the confidence to challenge requirements, ask the right questions, and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and other database objects using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop and maintain data integration and ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Apply data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modelling, fact and dimension tables, data transformations, and data loading strategies.
• Manage source code and database/pipeline changes using Git, following version control best practices.
• Use Azure DevOps to execute, manage, and support data pipelines and associated deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and data discrepancies.
• Collaborate with business users and end users to gather requirements, clarify business rules, and translate them into technical solutions.
• Proactively identify gaps, challenge unclear or impractical requirements, and recommend suitable approaches based on technical feasibility and best practices.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, reliability, and performance across data integration and warehousing solutions.
• Support reporting and analytics requirements, working with Power BI teams where required.

Required Skills and Experience

• Overall Experience: 8–10 years in IT, with approximately 4–6 years of relevant experience in data engineering, SQL development, and data integration.
• SQL Server: Strong hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Azure Data Factory: Practical experience developing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining ADF pipelines, including activities, triggers, parameterization, and incremental data loads.
• Git: Good understanding of version control, branching, merging, pull requests, and managing code changes.
• Azure DevOps: Experience using Azure DevOps to run and monitor pipelines, manage code repositories, and support development and deployment workflows.
• Data Warehousing: Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture, ETL/ELT processes, dimensional modelling, fact and dimension tables, and data transformation strategies.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with business stakeholders and end users.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate issues, challenge assumptions, and ask relevant questions.

Good to Have

• Basic understanding of Power BI, including datasets/semantic models, reports, and the relationship between data models and reporting.
• Familiarity with Azure data platform components and cloud-based data integration patterns.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• A hands-on data engineer with strong SQL Server and Azure Data Factory expertise.
• Someone who understands how data warehouses are designed and built, rather than focusing only on pipeline development.
• A proactive individual who can independently analyse requirements, identify potential issues, and challenge assumptions when necessary.
• A confident communicator who can engage directly with business users, explain technical concepts clearly, and manage expectations.
• A quality-focused professional who takes ownership of deliverables and works collaboratively with technical and business teams.

Key Technical Skills

Must Have: SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Git, Azure DevOps, Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT.

Good to Have: Basic Power BI knowledge, Azure data platform familiarity, and Agile delivery experience.
