Hypervisor Administrator

G6 – Hypervisor Administrator (Senior L1 / L1.5)
Role Summary
G6 engineers handle complex troubleshooting, perform deep diagnostics, support high severity incidents, validate L2/L3 changes, and guide junior resources.
Key Responsibilities
•    Perform advanced troubleshooting on VMware & Hyper V: 
o    ESXi host isolation/PSOD analysis
o    vCenter service issues
o    DRS/HA failover problems
o    VM performance bottlenecks (storage I/O, CPU co-stop, NUMA alignment)
•    Perform advanced datastore and storage troubleshooting: 
o    Multipath issues
o    Datastore latency
o    NFS/iSCSI mount failures
•    Validate changes implemented by L2/L3 (pre/post checks).
•    Support cluster level operations: 
o    HA/DRS configuration validation
o    Host maintenance mode validations
o    Resource pool and folder permission checks
•    Troubleshoot Virtual Networking: 
o    vSwitch/dvSwitch issues
o    VLAN tagging mismatch
o    Port group misconfiguration
•    Identify recurring problems and raise RCA based Problem Tickets.
•    Lead communication during outages affecting virtualization clusters.
•    Contribute to runbooks, automation improvements, and SOP creation.
•    Mentor G4/G5 engineers and ensure quality of escalations.

Skills Required
•    3–5+ years of virtualization experience in VMware / Hyper V.
•    Expertise in ESXi, vCenter, virtual switches, storage connectivity, clustering concepts.
•    Strong command-line skills (esxcli, PowerShell/PowerCLI).
•    Understanding of DR concepts (SRM optional), HA/DRS logs, vSAN basics.
•    Preferred: VMware VCP DCV, Microsoft Hyper V certification.
