We are currently seeking a MFT L3 Engineer to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).
Roles and responsibilities
- Resolve advanced issues: Serve as the final escalation point for complex technical problems involving MFT systems and related infrastructure.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA): Perform in-depth analysis to identify the fundamental cause of recurring incidents and implement long-term solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and implement solutions: Collaborate with engineering and development teams to address system bugs, define requirements for new features, and drive product improvements.
- Manage platform infrastructure: Lead the installation, configuration, and upgrade of MFT environments. Responsibilities include managing servers (Windows, Unix, or Linux), automation, and overall infrastructure readiness.
- Ensure security and compliance: Administer security components such as PGP encryption, SSL/TLS certificates, and key management. Implement measures to comply with regulatory standards like PCI-DSS and HIPAA.
- Optimize performance: Monitor the MFT platform's performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement performance tuning to ensure high availability and efficient file transfers.
- Automate processes: Develop scripts (using Python, Shell, or PowerShell) and automation tools to streamline operational tasks and enhance system reliability.
- Maintain and document knowledge: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including troubleshooting steps, runbooks, and best practices, to build the team's knowledge base.
- Mentor junior staff: Provide guidance, technical training, and mentorship to Level 1 and Level 2 support engineers.
- Participate in DR planning: Develop, document, and execute disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Provide on-call support: Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical incidents and provide emergency support when needed.
Required skills and qualifications
- Technical expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience with specific MFT tools like IBM Sterling File Gateway, GoAnywhere MFT, Axway MFT, Globalscape, or Connect:Direct.
- Protocol knowledge: Deep understanding of file transfer protocols, including SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, and other transmission methodologies.
- Security skills: Expertise in encryption technologies (PGP, SSL/TLS), key management, and security best practices for data transmission.
- Operating systems: Hands-on experience with the administration of Windows, Unix, and/or Linux operating systems.
- Scripting languages: Proficiency in scripting for automation, using languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Networking concepts: Strong knowledge of networking principles, including firewalls, load balancers, and DMZs.
- Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform complex troubleshooting.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and senior leadership.
- ITIL proficiency: A solid understanding of ITIL processes, particularly Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
