Software Development Specialist Advisor VMware-Cloud

[Grade 11 Role]

Job Title:  Infrastructure Service Automation Engineer and Infrastructure Architect – vRA, vRO, Scripting, Linux Administration and / or Windows Administration

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior IT Infrastructure Services Automation Expert.  In this role, you will be expected to engage with our customer and the Windows and Linux Administration teams to analyse, architect, design, and implement automated resolutions and/or automated execution of workflows/tasks that support the acceleration of transformation of the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) engagement, using vRA and vRO tooling.

Must Have Skills :   This is a hands-on role.  We are looking for skilled engineers with recent hands-on experience with the skills mentioned below.

Primary Skills:

1. Linux and or Windows – Hands on System Administrator experience – develop/build Virtual Machines and manage instances at scale
2. VRA/VRO – Must be hands on developer and architect
3. VMware suite – Must have good working knowledge of the Suite
4. Scripting – Must have good experience of scripting (any/all): (1) JavaScript, (2) Perl, (3) Bash, (4) PowerShell scripting, (5) Python
5. Cloud – Must have hands-on Cloud (AWS / Azure) Automation services like, AWS Systems Manager, IAM, Secret Manager, Lambda, Step- functions, AWS Cloud Formation Templates, Azure functions, Logic Apps, Patching solutions, ARM etc
6. Config Management: ( Ansible / Chef ) Must have hands on creating playbooks and cookbooks, roles and recipes etc.

Secondary Skills:

1. Terraform/Jenkins/GIT etc.
2. Rundeck / Ansible
3. RESTful APIs/Micro Services
4. ServiceNow APIs (ITSM)
5. Site Reliability Engineering
6. Infrastructure as Code principles
7. Knowledge of Kubernetes / Docker Containers
8. Knowledge of Monitoring tools – Nagios, SCCM

Other inputs:

1. Expert oral, written and presentation skills.
2. Candidates with Computer Science Engineering degree are preferred
3. Experience of working with OEMs and focused on Infrastructure Management

We are not looking for:

1. project managers,
2. people who do not have more recent hands-on experience, or
3. people who are “applications developers on the Cloud”

Years of experience required:

1. 3+ years in hands-on advanced Automation skills (including evidence of broader tooling)
2. 10+ years in Infrastructure Automation (scripting)
3. 15+ years in IT Infrastructure Services
