Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Consultant – ThingWorx / SCPA to configure, develop, integrate, test, and deploy SmartConnect capabilities using ThingWorx 10.x and Smart Connected Product Accelerator (SCPA).
Working within an approved solution architecture, the Technical Consultant will provide hands-on implementation expertise across ThingWorx development, SCPA configuration, remote-access capabilities, endpoint automation, access governance, enterprise integrations, identity management, testing, deployment, and production support.
The consultant will translate documented user needs and Given/When/Then acceptance criteria into secure, scalable, supportable, and maintainable technical solutions. The role will prioritize standard SCPA capabilities, reusable components, and approved extension patterns while minimizing unnecessary customization.
Key Responsibilities
ThingWorx & SCPA Development

Configure SCPA applications, solution building blocks, menus, administration capabilities, asset hierarchies, status displays, and endpoint views.

Create, configure, and maintain ThingWorx entities including Things, Thing Templates, Thing Shapes, Data Shapes, services, events, subscriptions, and Mashups.
-
Develop reusable ThingWorx services, UI components, extensions, and integration adapters in accordance with approved architecture and development standards.
-
Configure ThingWorx permissions, visibility controls, application behavior, and deployment packages.
-
Maximize the use of standard SCPA capabilities and reusable components before introducing custom development.
Remote Access & Endpoint Capabilities
-
Implement and validate attended and unattended remote-access capabilities for gateways and downstream endpoints.
-
Configure consent, session initiation, disconnect behavior, failure handling, notifications, and audit events.
-
Implement and test bidirectional clipboard and file-transfer capabilities.
-
Implement checksum-based file-integrity validation where required.
-
Troubleshoot remote-access, connectivity, endpoint, and integration issues.
Endpoint Automation & Systematic Data
-
Develop automated file-watch, ingestion, and processing workflows.
-
Implement duplicate prevention, retry mechanisms, error handling, alerting, and source/status audit records.

Implement attribute-based endpoint filtering and targeted package execution.
-
Configure target confirmation, privilege enforcement, remote execution, and per-endpoint result capture.

Develop appropriate monitoring and exception-handling mechanisms for automated workflows.
Access Governance & Security

Configure endpoint visibility groups, user roles, privileges, and least-privilege access models.

Implement and maintain auditable user-role and access assignments.

Develop Just-in-Time (JIT) privileged-access workflows, including:

Develop and support Unity (Salesforce) synchronization for endpoint master data.

Implement field mappings, transformations, synchronization services, and reconciliation logic.

Configure read-only behavior and appropriate master-data controls.

Handle unmatched records, synchronization failures, alerts, and exception scenarios.

Provide operational visibility into synchronization status and last-successful-sync information.
Enterprise Integrations

Develop and consume REST APIs and integration services.
-
Implement JSON transformations, data mappings, validation, and error handling.

Integrate SmartConnect with approved identity providers and enterprise platforms.
-
Troubleshoot integration, authentication, authorization, and data-quality issues.
Testing & Quality Assurance
-
Create automated and manual test cases mapped directly to user needs and acceptance criteria.

Support unit, system, integration, security, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing.

Maintain clear technical traceability between requirements, implementation, and test evidence.

Troubleshoot and resolve defects identified throughout the development and testing lifecycle.

Ensure solutions meet required security, performance, auditability, and supportability standards.
Deployment & Production Support

Support application releases and deployment activities across ThingWorx environments.

Develop repeatable deployment packages and implementation procedures.

Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Develop technical documentation, deployment instructions, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks.

Conduct effective knowledge-transfer sessions for development, support, and operational teams.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on ThingWorx development, configuration, implementation, or production-support experience.

3 to 5 years of strong practical experience with ThingWorx 9.x/10.x.

3+ years of experience with Smart Connected Product Accelerator (SCPA) or comparable ThingWorx solution-building-block frameworks.
