We are currently seeking a SAFe Scrum Master to join our team in Barreal de Heredia, Costa Rica.

SAFe Scrum Master
The SAFe Scrum Master coordinates up to three agile teams, ensures all activities using the principles of the SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban Frameworks. The SAFe Scrum Master work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Position overview
The SAFe Scrum Master leads teams through work actions that can be completed within timeboxed iterations called sprints and tracks progress through 15-minute stand-up meetings. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
Position's General Duties and Tasks:
Specific: Well-defined, clear, and unambiguous. Scrum Master must evaluate current team state: (Evaluation and Progression of teams could become a Lucid so transparent sharing can occur at all levels)
- Evaluate Current Backlog state
- Evaluate if the team is currently predictable
- Evaluate Flow Current state (This can be even by individual impact of members to the flow, lack of communication, lack of the use of the escalations or Scrum Master and Product owner skills, Shoulder tap understanding, Change Management Impact, stakeholders or dependencies involvement based on feature completion)
- Evaluate current capacity for the Team
- Evaluate cross training need identification
- Evaluate cross functional needs for end-to-end delivery identification
- Evaluate Meeting attendance against stakeholder/dependency needs (PM/PO, Business owners, Architecture, RTE/SM) that are documented.
Measurable: With specific criteria that measure your progress toward the accomplishment of the goal. Scrum Masters will log progress good and bad in the milestones of the goals and team progress.
- Product metrics to dashboards in ADO for team progression also included for history and progress
- Keep ADO Dashboard up to date with Priority, Dependencies, Risks, and sprint progressions.
- Maintain tracking for Team Ways of working improvements progress
- Maintain tracking for education and cross training needs for skills and team needs.
Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve Scrum Master will create training and help the team with consistency through being a coach and mentor:
- Train on use of ADO, Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban and SAFe Framework practices.
- List and Coach on next step for Backlog state improvement
- List and Coach on possible predictability improvements
- List and Coach on Flow improvement
- List and Coach on Capacity improvement
- List and Coach on cross training needs
- List and Coach on cross functional and skillset needs for end-to-end delivery identification
- List and Coach on Stakeholder/Dependency engagement, risk identification, and attendance in Planning, Sprint Refinement (current & future), and Feature Refinement (current & future)
Realistic: Within reach, realistic, and relevant to your life purpose. Scrum Masters will provide feedback to Portfolio, the Product manager/owner and RTE on the following goals
- Accountable for team Stakeholder, Dependency, and Risk Identification being documented, invited to the correct meetings, and tag updates in ADO as part of the team.
- Ensure stakeholders present in key meetings for progress and demo to validate direction of feature delivery. Additionally present for PI Planning.
- Show progression via goal milestones, metric achievements, and progress toward steps for improvement via backlog and dashboards in ADO
- Utilized relationships for evaluation of Feature velocity and how to improve with use of ADO metrics
- Utilize cross training opportunities, track progression of cross training, and next steps identification for team growth.
- Prepared to share in the Coach sync so peers can learn and implement new tools as a community of practice
Time-bound: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose is to create urgency. Initial current evaluation and closest next step goal to be documented.
- Provide state of Where is the team at, what are the next steps to progress the team further in each of the above-mentioned areas each PI.
- ADO Metrics reviewed for beginning of year, mid-year, and end of year.
- Sprint ceremonies mention metrics by burndown, breakdown of the team, scope fluctuations, cycle times.
- State of stakeholder lists are updated and maintained every other sprint
Qualifications
Must have Skills:
- Previous experience planning and managing enterprise projects
- Working experience with IT teams in a multi-team environment
- Excellent communication skills, leadership competencies, and a high level of emotional intelligence
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment or excellent familiarity with the Agile/Scrum/ScrumBan/Kanban/SAFe Agile methodologies
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Strong Azure DevOps knowledge
- Strong Jira Align knowledge
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure and product-centric teams
- Strong PI Planning preparation and facilitation background
- Technical documentation abilities
- Working knowledge of Agile Project Management Tools
- Experience with the SDLC (less than 5 years)
Preferred Skills:
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Scrum Master certification
