Program Manager Sr.

The Senior Pgm Manager, Corporate Functions PMO Portfolio, serves as a strategic portfolio leader partnering with Business Partner and functional leadership to define, govern, and optimize a complex enterprise portfolio of programs and projects to drive measurable business outcomes. This role drives portfolio strategy, investment decision making, and execution excellence by leading portfolio planning, prioritization, and governance processes that ensure transparency, fiscal discipline, and alignment to organizational objectives through timely, data driven decisions.

Position overview

The role provides PMO leadership through influence, facilitation, and subject matter expertise, applying consistent program and project management disciplines across the portfolio. The Senior Pgm Manager oversees and reports on portfolio performance metrics and KPIs, communicates portfolio health, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership, and proactively manages dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery risks.  As a PMO advisor and mentor, this role influences delivery teams and stakeholders to enable effective execution, strong collaboration, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

  • Partner with Business Partner, Finance, and functional senior leaders to lead portfolio planning, prioritization, and governance, ensuring investments align with strategic objectives, funding assumptions, and capacity constraints.
  • Establish and facilitate portfolio governance forums that provide executive level visibility, enable timely, data driven decision making, and reinforce transparency, fiscal discipline, and accountability through portfolio governance mechanisms.
  • Define, monitor, and communicate portfolio performance metrics and KPIs, including progress against strategic targets, financial outlook, delivery risk, and resource utilization; clearly articulate portfolio health, trade offs, and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
  • Drive consistent application of PMO standards and program/project management disciplines across the portfolio, including integration, scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and procurement management, influencing teams through best practices and delivery standards to achieve a high level of execution excellence.
  • Proactively identify and manage cross program dependencies, delivery risks, and resource conflicts; facilitate resolution through stakeholder alignment, escalation, and informed decision making.
  • As needed, step into a hands-on Project Manager or Program Manager role for critical initiatives, complex workstreams, or gaps in delivery capacity, directly leading execution activities such as planning, risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross functional leaders to assess resource demand, skill requirements, and capacity, supporting prioritization and sequencing decisions that maximize business value and reduce execution risk.
  • Lead and facilitate portfolio, program, and project reviews, planning workshops, and executive communications, ensuring discussions remain outcome focused, fact based, and aligned to business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted PMO advisor and mentor, influencing program and project leaders to elevate delivery performance, strengthen collaboration, and reinforce accountability and continuous improvement without direct supervisory authority.
  • Support functional or departmental strategic planning activities by translating strategy into executable portfolios, roadmaps, and investment plans.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates strong professional judgment, tact, and diplomacy when navigating complex or politically sensitive situations; remains composed under pressure and effectively facilitates conflict resolution across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Drives results in fast paced, ambiguous environments by taking ownership of outcomes, proactively identifying gaps, and stepping in where needed to ensure delivery success.
  • Leads through influence rather than authority, earning trust and alignment by leveraging expertise, data, and clear communication to motivate teams to perform at a high level of excellence.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to business and functional leaders, providing objective, fact based insights and recommendations that support informed decision making.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with audiences at all levels, translating complex portfolio, program, and project information into accessible, actionable insights.
  • Builds strong, collaborative relationships across functions and geographies, effectively incorporating stakeholder feedback while respecting time constraints and competing priorities.
  • Applies structured problem solving and sound judgment to evaluate trade offs, assess risks, and determine the most effective course of action using available information.
  • Demonstrates comfort operating in environments with incomplete information, adapting quickly to change while maintaining focus on strategic objectives and delivery outcomes.
  • Promotes disciplined execution by reinforcing program and project management best practices, governance standards, and delivery accountability.
  • Leverages external perspective and professional experience to identify common delivery challenges, share lessons learned, and elevate overall portfolio and execution performance.
