We are currently seeking a Business Analyst - Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance to join our team in Belen, Heredia (CR-H), Costa Rica (CR).

Job Description: Senior Business Analyst (P&C Insurance)
 
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain knowledge to support application maintenance, enhancements, and transformation initiatives. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, underwriting teams, and technology partners to gather requirements, analyze business processes, resolve production issues, and deliver effective technical solutions.
General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Requirement Management: Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business rules.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, product owners, underwriting/operations teams, and technology squads.
  • Domain Expertise: Provide functional expertise across the full P&C policy lifecycle, including Quote, New Business, Underwriting, Bind, Issuance, Endorsements, Renewals, and Cancellations.
  • Impact Analysis: Analyze business processes, production issues, defects, and enhancement requests to perform comprehensive impact assessments.
  • Technical Collaboration: Partner with development and QA teams to clarify requirements, review test scenarios, and support swift defect resolution.
  • Testing & Validation: Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage defect triage, and secure final business sign-off.
  • Product Configuration: Support system configurations involving coverages, limits, deductibles, rating engines, underwriting rules, and forms.
  • System Integration: Assist with downstream and upstream integrations, including billing, claims, document management, reporting, and third-party data systems.
  • Release & Production Support: Participate in release planning, production validation, and post-production support.
  • Global Delivery: Coordinate effectively across onsite and offshore team models.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
  • Experience: 8+ years of Business Analyst experience, with a heavy emphasis on the P&C Insurance domain.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the P&C policy administration lifecycle, underwriting processes, and experience with Personal and/or Commercial Lines insurance.
  • Core BA Competencies: Proven expertise in requirements elicitation, user story drafting, acceptance criteria definition, and process mapping.
  • Lifecycle Support: Strong experience conducting requirement walkthroughs with Development and QA teams, ensuring functional clarifications are addressed throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis, mapping, and issue investigation.
  • Tooling & Methodology: Proficiency with Azure DevOps or Jira within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Surety Bonds: Specialized experience with Surety Bonds is a strong advantage, including knowledge of bond products, underwriting, issuance, renewals, cancellations, and the overall bond lifecycle.
  • Insurance Platforms: Hands-on experience with Policy Administration Systems (PAS) such as OneShield, Guidewire, Duck Creek, or Majesco.
  • Advanced Configuration: Experience with Commercial Lines product rating, forms, and product configuration.
  • Modernization: Experience supporting Application Maintenance Services (AMS) engagements, system modernizations, or legacy migrations.
  • Certifications: CPCU, AINS, or other relevant insurance industry certifications.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
