About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SAP Data Migration Lead to drive the data migration workstream for large-scale SAP transformation programs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience leading complex SAP data migration initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA implementations, system consolidations, and enterprise-wide transformation projects.
This role requires strong expertise in migration strategy, data governance, data quality, ETL processes, cutover planning, and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will lead end-to-end migration activities, ensuring accurate, compliant, and seamless migration of master and transactional data while collaborating with business, functional, and technical teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Data Migration Strategy & Planning
- Serve as the primary owner and decision-maker for all SAP data migration activities.
- Define and execute the overall SAP data migration strategy aligned with business objectives and project timelines.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive migration plans, schedules, cutover runbooks, and contingency procedures.
- Establish migration governance, standards, and operating procedures.
- Define migration scope, wave planning, and deployment approach for large-scale SAP programs.
End-to-End Data Migration Delivery
- Lead the complete data migration lifecycle, including:
- Data extraction
- Data profiling
- Data cleansing
- Data transformation
- Data validation
- Data loading
- Data reconciliation
- Oversee migration of both master and transactional data from legacy systems into SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC environments.
- Manage multiple migration cycles, mock loads, testing loads, and production cutovers.
- Ensure migration deliverables are completed within project timelines and quality expectations.
Data Governance & Quality Management
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and controls.
- Drive data quality improvement initiatives across business and technical teams.
- Lead data profiling, cleansing, enrichment, and validation activities.
- Design and implement automated reconciliation and validation processes.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity throughout migration activities.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with business data owners and process owners to define data requirements and resolve data issues.
- Partner with SAP functional consultants across:
- FI/CO
- MM
- SD
- PP
- Other SAP modules
- Work closely with technical teams, integration teams, security teams, and project leadership.
- Coordinate with SAP Security and GRC teams on migration-related access controls and Segregation of Duties (SoD) compliance.
- Support audit readiness and compliance requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
Risk, Compliance & Issue Management
- Identify and mitigate migration risks, dependencies, and data-related issues.
- Escalate critical issues and recommend corrective actions to project leadership.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, ITGC standards, and audit guidelines.
- Maintain migration logs, issue registers, lessons learned, and documentation.
Cutover & Hypercare Support
- Lead cutover planning, readiness assessments, and migration rehearsals.
- Define migration execution plans for go-live weekends and deployment activities.
- Coordinate data migration activities during production cutover.
- Support post-go-live hypercare and stabilization activities.
- Monitor data-related issues and drive timely resolution after deployment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of SAP experience.
- At least 5+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale SAP data migration initiatives.
- Proven track record leading enterprise-wide SAP transformation and migration programs.
- Experience managing globally distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
