QA Automation Engineer – Brokerage / Financial Services

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in test automation, API testing, AWS cloud services, and distributed applications.

Brokerage or financial services experience is required, with strong knowledge of brokerage operations and a preference for candidates with experience in retirement, investments, or wealth management applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing scalable automation frameworks using Java, Python, Selenium, and Playwright, along with strong expertise in API automation, AWS serverless architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and CI/CD.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for web applications, APIs, distributed microservices, and enterprise integrations using Selenium and/or Playwright with Java and Python.
  • Develop and execute UI automation tests using Playwright and Selenium for web-based brokerage and financial services applications.
  • Develop and execute automated API tests for REST and SOAP services using tools such as REST Assured, Postman, and Karate.
  • Validate serverless applications and event-driven workflows using AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, S3, and EventBridge.
  • Perform end-to-end testing across distributed microservices, asynchronous messaging systems, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
  • Validate API Gateway implementations, RESTful APIs, and contract-first API development using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
  • Test authentication and authorization mechanisms including OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, and related security protocols.
  • Validate event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging platforms, ensuring accurate data flow across services and downstream systems.
  • Analyze AWS CloudWatch logs and monitoring tools to troubleshoot distributed applications, identify root causes, and support issue resolution.
  • Perform integration testing across upstream systems, downstream applications, third-party vendors, and external consumers.
  • Build reusable, maintainable, and data-driven automation frameworks that support continuous testing.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, code reviews, defect triage, and release activities.

 

Required Qualifications

Brokerage / Financial Services

  • 5+ years of QA Automation experience, preferably within a brokerage or financial services environment.
  • Strong brokerage domain knowledge is required.
  • Experience with retirement, investments, wealth management, or related financial services applications is highly preferred.

AWS / Cloud

  • AWS Certification is required, along with strong hands-on AWS experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
    • Lambda
    • API Gateway
    • SQS
    • SNS
    • Step Functions
    • DynamoDB
    • CloudWatch
    • S3
    • EventBridge
  • 5+ years of experience testing serverless applications, workflows, and event-driven architectures in AWS.
  • Strong experience using CloudWatch logs and monitoring tools to troubleshoot distributed applications and identify root causes.

Test Automation

  • 3+ years of automation programming experience using Java and Python.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks using Selenium and/or Playwright.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and executing Playwright automation frameworks for modern web applications.
  • Strong experience developing reusable, scalable, and data-driven automation frameworks.

API / Microservices Testing

  • 5+ years of experience with API automation testing for REST and SOAP services using REST Assured, Postman, Karate, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of HTTP methods, REST principles, request/response lifecycle, headers, cookies, rate limiting, and HTTP status codes.
  • Experience working with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and contract-first API development.
  • Experience testing API Gateway solutions, including AWS API Gateway or Kong.
  • Strong understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, and related security standards.
  • 5+ years of experience testing distributed microservices, enterprise integrations, and asynchronous messaging platforms such as Kafka.
  • Experience validating end-to-end data flow across APIs, messaging queues, microservices, and downstream systems.

CI/CD & Troubleshooting

  • 5+ years of experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills across APIs, middleware, cloud services, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to analyze application logs and trace requests across multiple services and system components.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver assigned work within project timelines.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments with cross-functional teams.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

 

Pay Transparency

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $94,168-$118,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
