We are currently seeking a Java API Architect to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nādu (IN-TN), India (IN).

API ArchitectKey ResponsibilitiesDefine and lead API architecture strategy across public and private APIs, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reuseDesign and govern API-first, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures in cloud and hybrid environmentsEstablish standards, guidelines, and best practices for API design, security, versioning, and lifecycle managementTranslate business needs into API contracts, system architectures, and integration patternsPartner with product owners to shape and prioritize API roadmaps and backlogsProvide technical leadership and oversight for API and microservices development, including hands-on contribution when neededDesign highly scalable, resilient distributed systems and cloud messaging solutionsEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture, security policies, and compliance requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, QA, DevOps, and operations) to deliver high-quality solutions in Agile environmentsAct as a technical advisor to stakeholders, helping align technology decisions with business strategyCore FunctionsProduce architecture artifacts, including design principles, reference architectures, and technical specificationsDrive design decisions across application, integration, and infrastructure layersEnsure performance, reliability, and scalability of API platforms and servicesSupport production systems through issue analysis, troubleshooting, and guidance on resolutionPromote API governance and advocate for reusable, discoverable, and well-documented servicesQualifications & ExperienceExtensive experience in API architecture and design (RESTful APIs, microservices, API gateways)Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native design principlesProven experience designing and delivering distributed, scalable systemsExperience with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and integration frameworksProficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Node.js, Python)Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Strong understanding of API security (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, etc.)Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teamsExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
