We are currently seeking a Java API Architect to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nādu (IN-TN), India (IN).

This position is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting responsive user interfaces using React and backend Java REST APIs using Spring Boot. The role partners closely with product owners, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑quality digital experiences in accordance with U.S. Bank engineering and security standards.

DUTIES

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Design, develop, and maintain responsive and accessible user interfaces using React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
2. Develop and integrate RESTful APIs in Java using Spring Boot, supporting UI and enterprise application needs.
3. Collaborate with UX, product, and backend teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
4. Consume and integrate APIs using secure authentication mechanisms including OAuth, JWT, and SSO.
5. Implement state management solutions such as Redux or Context API for complex UI workflows.
6. Ensure application performance, usability, accessibility (ADA), and cross‑browser compatibility standards are met.
7. Write unit, integration, and UI tests to ensure quality and maintainability of both frontend and backend components.
8. Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions to ensure alignment with U.S. Bank standards.
9. Deploy and support applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud/container platforms as required.
10. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues by analyzing logs and monitoring tools.
11. Follow secure coding practices and comply with bank policies, including application security and data protection requirements.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES

Typical tools and technologies include (but are not limited to):

• Frontend: React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Redux
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs
• DevOps & Cloud: Git, CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Testing & Quality: Unit testing frameworks, code scanning tools
• Monitoring: Logging and diagnostics tools

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Experience in software development roles supporting both frontend and backend technologies.

Special Requirements
Must have demonstrated experience with:

1. Developing user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
2. Designing and developing RESTful APIs in Java using Spring Boot.
3. Integrating frontend applications with backend services.
4. Working in Agile development environments.
5. Implementing secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
