We are currently seeking a Application Support Engineer to join our team in Cyberjaya, Selangor (MY-10), Malaysia (MY).
Role Overview
The Application Support Engineer is responsible for end‑to‑end application governance, readiness, and execution support for data center migration / platform restack initiatives. This role ensures applications are fully assessed, compliant, secure, and operationally ready before migration, and supports stabilization post‑go‑live. The role acts as the primary coordination point across application, infrastructure, security, and business teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Governance, Planning & Readiness (Pre‑Migration)
- Conduct application and dependency assessments for applications hosted in the Cyberjaya Data Centre
- Categorize applications by:
- Environment (MY PROD / SG DR)
- Business criticality (Baseline / Important / Critical)
- RTO and RPO requirements
- Produce detailed application dependency mapping including:
- Upstream and downstream systems
- External integrations (e.g., CTOS, CCRIS, CBM, SOA Gateways, MQs, APIs)
- Shared services (LDAP, SMTP, monitoring tools, schedulers)
- Identify hard dependencies such as IPs, VLANs, hostnames, firewall rules, and certificates
Compliance, Risk & Architecture Validation
- Validate data residency and regulatory compliance (BNM, PDPA, internal policies)
- Ensure proper segregation of MY PROD and SG DR environments
- Perform application impact and risk assessments covering:
- Downtime tolerance
- Batch window sensitivity
- Month‑end / quarter‑end constraints
- Identify single points of failure and define mitigation and rollback strategies
- Validate network design, connectivity flows, firewall directionality, and IP requirements
- Review application configurations requiring updates (connection strings, MQs, APIs, properties files)
Pre‑Migration Preparation
- Standardize and clean up application environments
- Decommission obsolete components and unused configurations
- Ensure backup readiness and successful restore validation
- Validate certificate readiness (TLS/SSL), expiry, and renewal needs
- Review secrets management and keystore configurations
Migration & Cutover Support
- Support change and release management activities, including CAC approvals
- Coordinate application shutdown/startup sequencing during cutover
- Support clustering and node management activities
- Monitor logs, connectivity, and error rates during migration
- Perform smoke tests and provide real‑time updates to WAR room and stakeholders
Post‑Migration Validation & Stabilization
- Execute functional validation (login, transactions, batch jobs, integrations)
- Validate DR readiness for SG environment including replication and connectivity
- Support DR simulations and update runbooks as required
- Monitor performance, latency, throughput, and stability during hypercare
- Support transition to Business‑As‑Usual (BAU)
Documentation, Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Update application architecture, network, and environment topology documentation
- Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) across application, business, project, and infrastructure teams
- Provide migration status, risks, and go‑live readiness updates
- Support audit, evidence requests, and post‑implementation reviews (PIR)
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in application migration, data center moves, or platform restacks
- Solid understanding of application architecture, infrastructure, and network dependencies
- Experience with regulated environments and compliance frameworks
- Hands‑on knowledge of risk assessment, impact analysis, and change management
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities
- Ability to work under pressure during cutover and high‑risk migration windows
