Role Overview

The Technical Project Manager (f/m/d) Unified Communications (UC) - Operator Connect is responsible for delivering the organization’s end‑to‑end transition to Microsoft Teams Operator Connect. This role spans the entire lifecycle — from gathering requirements through RFP execution, vendor selection, contracting, risk assessment, migration planning, deployment, and business readiness. The position requires a blend of project leadership, UC domain expertise, stakeholder coordination, and the ability to design repeatable processes for large‑scale telephony transformation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements Gathering & Discovery

  • Lead structured workshops with business units, technical teams, support operations, and architecture to capture functional and technical requirements for Operator Connect
  • Produce clear business requirement documents, technical specifications, compliance needs, operational workflows, SLAs, and readiness criteria
  • Identify integration points, dependencies, regulatory considerations (e.g., emergency calling), and operational support impacts

2. RFP Development & Vendor Evaluation

  • Translate requirements into a complete RFP package aligned with enterprise procurement standards
  • Identify suitable Operator Connect carriers and assess their capabilities, footprint, resilience, and pricing models
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Legal, Security, Compliance, and Architecture to issue the RFP and manage the full vendor engagement lifecycle
  • Lead vendor briefings, Q&A, scoring, commercial comparisons, and structured evaluation workshops
  • Produce final vendor selection recommendations supported by objective scoring and stakeholder alignment

3. Contracting & Risk Management

  • Drive the selected vendor through contracting, redlining, negotiation, and commercial finalization
  • Coordinate internal reviews such as Third‑Party Risk Management, Security Assessments, Privacy/DPAs, and regulatory compliance checks
  • Ensure all contractual obligations support the organization’s operational, technical, and service continuity requirements

4. Deployment Planning & Migration Execution

4.1 Baseline Discovery & Inventory

  • Collect and consolidate baseline telephony inventory, including:
    • Existing carrier contracts
    • Number ranges, DID blocks, service types, routing, and geographic footprints
    • Legacy systems, SBC dependencies, emergency calling setup
  • Map existing contractual commitments, notice periods, early termination clauses, and porting constraints.

4.2 Migration Preparation

  • Develop a structured number‑porting strategy across multiple carriers and geographies.
  • Submit porting requests, track progress, resolve rejections, and manage escalations.
  • Establish detailed migration waves considering business criticality, operational readiness, and minimizing disruption.
  • Build SLAs and validation steps for both vendors and internal teams.

4.3 Test Planning

  • Define and oversee end‑to‑end test plans covering:
    • Number provisioning and routing validation
    • Call flows (inbound/outbound/internal)
    • Emergency calling verification
    • Network readiness testing (QoS, latency, bandwidth)
    • Failover and resilience testing
  • Ensure test results are thoroughly documented, tracked, and remediated before go‑live.

4.4 Deployment & Cutover Execution

  • Coordinate deployment teams, vendors, and business stakeholders through pilot, phased rollout, and full-scale migration.
  • Oversee cutover events, validate successful number activation, and quickly manage any post‑cutover issues.
  • Ensure all activities follow a repeatable, scalable migration framework.

5. Process Design, Communication & Reporting

5.1 Repeatable Migration Process

  • Develop standardized processes and templates for:
    • Intake and onboarding of new business units
    • Porting workflows
    • User readiness and activation
    • Testing procedures
    • Issue tracking and escalation
  • Ensure documentation is complete and transferable to BAU operations.

5.2 Communication & Change Management

  • Establish communication plans for users, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Provide clear messaging for migration timelines, requirements, outages, testing, and cutover instructions.
  • Coordinate with training teams to support user adoption, FAQs, and post‑deployment support.

5.3 Status Reporting & Governance

  • Produce regular program updates, dashboards, risk logs, and executive steering materials.
  • Monitor KPIs, adoption, service performance, and vendor SLA adherence.
  • Drive issue resolution and ensure the program remains on schedule and within scope.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering global UCaaS or telephony transformation projects (Microsoft Teams, Operator Connect, Direct Routing, SIP).
  • Strong technical understanding of telephony, number routing, SBCs, emergency calling, and carrier services.
  • Expertise with RFP development, vendor evaluation, procurement processes, and contracting cycles.
  • Experience designing repeatable migration processes and managing large‑scale number porting programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross‑team leadership skills.
  • Structured project management capabilities (risks, timelines, RAID logs, governance).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Teams Voice or Operator Connect certifications.
  • Background working with global telecom carriers and enterprise telephony consolidation programs.
  • Experience with enterprise regulatory requirements (911/E911, GDPR, call recording compliance, etc.).
  • German language - both spoken and written
