We are currently seeking a VMWare Optimization Technical Analyst/Coordinator - Remote US to join our team in Frisco, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

This VMWare Optimization Technical Analyst/Coordinator position is a specialized analyst and coordinator role that will support the migration of approximately 15,000 VMWare virtual machines into consolidated and optimized ESXi clusters. 

 

**This is a 1 year project to significantly increase the virtual machine density within existing ESX host hardware, and to eliminate end-of-life hardware.

 

Role Responsibilities:

·         Execute a substantial vSphere optimization and consolidation project over a 1-year period.  This includes the mapping of virtual machine migrations, coordination of migration, planned outages and validation

·         Work closely with VMWare server engineers, design engineers and application owners to discover and document applications, as well as coordinate the migration logistics

·         Conduct pre-migration reconnaissance across a large set of business and clinical applications, gathering technical data and establishing communication with application owners

·         Coordinate migration activities with the application owners and sponsors, ensuring full communication, compliance, approvals and validation of applications that have been relocated

·         Work directly with application owners and Design Engineers to understand infrastructure requirements for virtualized applications

·         Lead focused discussions to ensure the appropriate level of detail has been defined as migration requirements are being developed

·         Facilitate sessions to define, analyze, refine, and validate requirements and resolve issues

·         Conduct and coordinate review sessions and obtain appropriate approvals to ensure the migration requirements and design solution meets the owner's requirements

·         Identify issues and risks and handle them in a manner that mitigates the risks to quality, timeline and scope

 

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field (virtual infrastructure architecture, product requirements and/or technical interdependencies)
  •    4+ years’ operational experience with VMware technologies and solutions specifically (VMWare VSphere/ESXi environments)

 

Highly Preferred Skills and experience:

  • BS in Computer-related discipline, or equivalent experience and certifications (Certified Project Management Professional)
  • Experience in a healthcare or hospital/medical related industry 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  Ability to communicate technical concepts to leadership, and to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Experience and hands-on competency with network technologies and protocols
  • Experience and hands-on competency with Cyber Security concepts and controls
  • Experience and hands-on competency with storage technologies and protocols
