System and Data Analyst (FTE/Hybrid)

We are currently seeking a System and Data Analyst (FTE/Hybrid) to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CA-NS), Canada (CA).

Day to Day Job Duties: (what this person will do on a daily/weekly basis)

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into system and data specifications.
• Perform detailed data analysis across multiple systems to understand data flow, dependencies, and transformations.
• Develop and maintain source-to-target data mapping documents.
• Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and reconciliation.
• Conduct system and data reconciliation between upstream and downstream systems.
• Identify data quality issues, gaps, and inconsistencies and propose remediation solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and QA teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
• Support data migration, transformation, and system integration initiatives.
• Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and technical documentation.
• Assist in testing activities including data validation, UAT support, and defect analysis.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and summaries to communicate findings and system impacts.

Basic Qualifications: (what are the skills required for this job with minimum years of experience on each)

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a System Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.
• Minimum 3+ years of strong SQL experience for data querying and analysis.
• Experience in data mapping, data modeling concepts, and system integration analysis.
• Experience of performing systems and data reconciliation across multiple platforms.
• Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.).
• Strong understanding of data flows, ETL processes, and system interactions.
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Degree:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to Have; (But not a must)

• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake).
• Experience in large-scale data transformation or migration programs.
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
