We are currently seeking a Affected Population Digital Engagement Advisor to join our team in Herndon (100% remote), Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).

 

Job Overview:

Mobile devices have made affected populations more digitally connected than ever before.  BHA partners are using digital engagement mechanisms more frequently. The incumbent will address BHA’s need for strong technical guidance in this space.

 

Job Duties:

Technical Advising:

  • Contribute to drafting of DDAIM advising guidance on digital engagement with affected populations in humanitarian programs, in collaboration with other relevant BHA teams, and support the training of the DDAIM advisors to mainstream the guidance in all DDAIM support to BHA.
  • Coordinate and contribute to technical advising services to BHA teams in collaboration with DDAIM focal points.
  • With support from the Team Lead, advise BHA teams on digital engagement with affected population elements in their programming portfolio to ensure good practice, mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
  • Contribute to a technical review of proposals related to engaging with affected populations, the implementation of digital technology to enable engagement, and the application of insights derived from such engagement for program design.
  • Promote BHA and DDAIM policy objectives through engagement with field teams.
  • Travel to the field, sometimes at short notice and for extended periods of time, to advise regional and country teams on DDAIM areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure a client centered approach to the implementation of DDAIM advising services.

 

Guidance and Capacity Building

  • Contribute to the design of BHA priorities, policy, guidance and training related to affected population digital engagement in humanitarian response.
  • Contribute to the creation of templates, guides, job aides, and check lists to assist BHA staff and partners in adopting appropriate approaches to digital engagement with affected populations in humanitarian response and the use of insights for program design.
  • Increase the capacity of BHA staff on issues related to digital engagement with affected populations in humanitarian response.
  • Deliver portions of DDAIM sponsored trainings and contribute to the periodic revision of DDAIM sponsored training curriculum.
  • Contribute to DDAIM team strategies, communication material and procedural documentation.
  • Support the strategic introduction of affected population considerations into BHA’s response systems, policies, practices, and culture.

 

Representation:

  • Represent DDAIM in meetings with individual partners discussing programmatic priorities, objectives, progress, results, and challenges.
  • Participate in other interagency and partner-wide meetings as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Attend bureau-wide coordination meetings as DDAIM’s primary point of contact and ensure DDAIM interests and priorities are clearly articulated.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of overseas work experience in a humanitarian response context
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using digital technology in humanitarian programs
  • Minimum 10  years of IT, Humanitarian or Organizational consulting experience 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing or implementing affected population engagement and feedback mechanisms in humanitarian contexts
  • Secret clearance required

  • Excellent communication skills

For Colorado Candidates

In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rules, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. For a candidate in the state of Colorado only, the starting pay range for this role is Min: $90,800 - Max: $166,500. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including actual work

location, relevant experience (internal or external), technical skills, and other qualifications.
