Job Description – Storage & Data Protection Support Engineer (L1/L2)
Experience: 5–8 Years

Role Overview
We are looking for a Storage & Data Protection Support Engineer to provide first-level (L1/L2) operational support across enterprise storage, SAN, backup, NAS, and virtualization environments. The role involves handling incidents, performing restore operations, monitoring system health, and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
Backup & Data Protection
•    Perform recovery operations including: 
o    File-Level Restore (FLR), VM Restore, Bare Metal Recovery (BMR)
o    NetBackup Bare Metal Restore (NBMR) configuration and restore
•    Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and incidents
•    Configure and support: 
o    NetBackup (FL/NBMR)
o    Acronis backup solutions

Data Domain Monitoring
•    Monitor and respond to Data Domain alerts: 
o    Connectivity loss
o    Temperature alerts
o    Hardware failures
•    Perform initial diagnostics and escalation

Storage & SAN Support
•    Configure and support storage arrays: 
o    Dell EMC XtremIO (XIO), PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity
o    VPLEX (Local & Metro)
o    Pure Storage, IBM storage
•    Perform SAN zoning using: 
o    Brocade switches (SANnav)
•    Assist with storage provisioning and LUN management

NAS & Replication
•    Configure and manage NAS storage: 
o    Unity, Isilon (SMB/NFS protocols)
•    Support: 
o    Replication setup and failover operations

OS & VMware Support
•    Configure storage on: 
o    Windows, Linux, ESXi
•    Provide VMware support: 
o    Datastore provisioning, expansion
o    Storage vMotion
o    VM storage troubleshooting

Monitoring & Performance
•    Monitor systems using tools like Grafana
•    Track performance across: 
o    Storage arrays (XIO, PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity, VPLEX)
o    SAN ports (Brocade)
o    NAS (Isilon)
o    OS (Linux/Windows)
•    Perform array and SAN log collection

Incident & Vendor Management
•    Handle L1/L2 incidents and service requests
•    Create and track support tickets with: 
o    Dell EMC, Pure Storage, IBM
•    Coordinate: 
o    Hardware replacements
o    Vendor escalations

Required Skills
Mandatory Skills
•    5–8 years of experience in Storage, Backup, and SAN Support
•    Strong working knowledge of: 
o    NetBackup / Acronis (backup and restore)
o    Brocade SAN zoning (SANnav)
o    Dell EMC storage (XIO, PowerMax, Unity)
•    Good understanding of: 
o    Linux & Windows environments
o    VMware storage operations

Preferred Skills
•    Exposure to: 
o    Data Domain, VPLEX, Pure Storage, IBM storage
o    NAS technologies (Unity, Isilon)
•    Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana)
•    Basic scripting knowledge (Shell/Python) is a plus
