Job Description – Storage & Data Protection Support Engineer (L1/L2)
Experience: 5–8 Years
Location: India / Global Delivery Centers
Shift: 24x7 Rotational Support

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Storage & Data Protection Support Engineer to provide first-level operational support across enterprise storage, SAN, backup, and virtualization environments. The role focuses on incident handling, restore operations, monitoring, and ensuring stability of critical infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities
Backup & Data Protection
•    Perform backup and restoration activities: 
o    File-Level Restore (FLR), VM Restore, BMR (Bare Metal Recovery)
o    NBMR configuration and restore (NetBackup)
•    Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and incidents
•    Configure and support: 
o    NetBackup (FL/NBMR)
o    Acronis backup solutions

Data Domain Monitoring
•    Monitor and respond to Data Domain alerts: 
o    Connectivity loss
o    Temperature alerts
o    Hardware failures
•    Perform initial diagnostics and escalate critical issues

Storage Administration
•    Configure and manage storage arrays: 
o    Dell EMC XtremIO (XIO), PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity
o    VPLEX (Local & Metro)
o    Pure Storage, IBM storage
•    Perform storage provisioning and LUN management
________________________________________
SAN Management
•    Perform SAN zoning and administration using: 
o    Brocade switches (SANnav)
•    Troubleshoot SAN connectivity and performance issues

NAS & Replication
•    Configure NAS storage: 
o    Unity, Isilon (SMB / NFS protocols)
•    Support replication setup and failover operations

OS & Virtualization Support
•    Configure and manage storage integration on: 
o    Windows, Linux, ESXi
•    VMware support: 
o    Datastore provisioning and expansion
o    Storage vMotion operations
o    VM storage troubleshooting

Monitoring & Performance Management
•    Monitor and analyze performance using Grafana or similar tools
•    Track health and performance of: 
o    Storage arrays (XIO, PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity, VPLEX)
o    SAN ports (Brocade switches)
o    NAS (Isilon)
o    OS (Linux/Windows)
•    Perform array and SAN log collection and analysis

Incident & Vendor Management
•    Handle L1/L2 incidents and service requests
•    Raise and manage support tickets with: 
o    Dell EMC, Pure Storage, IBM
•    Coordinate hardware replacements and vendor escalations

Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory Skills
•    5–8 years of experience in Storage, SAN, and Backup Support
•    Strong experience with: 
o    Backup tools (NetBackup, Acronis)
o    Brocade SAN zoning (SANnav)
o    Dell EMC storage platforms (XIO, PowerMax, Unity – basic to intermediate level)
•    Good understanding of: 
o    Linux & Windows systems
o    VMware storage management (datastore handling)

Preferred Skills
•    Familiarity with: 
o    Data Domain
o    VPLEX, Pure Storage, IBM storage
o    NAS technologies (Unity, Isilon)
•    Exposure to monitoring tools (Grafana)
•    Basic scripting knowledge (Shell/Python) is a plus

Certifications (Good to Have)
•    Dell EMC or Storage Certifications
•    Veritas NetBackup Certification
•    VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
•    ITIL Foundation
