We are currently seeking a Network Engineer - Intermediate to join our team in Indianapolis (REMOTE), Indiana (US-IN), United States (US).
Position's General Duties and Tasks
The Intermediate Network Engineer is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and monitoring the IT network infrastructure to ensure network performance and availability 24/7. This role configures and updates network devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) based on designs provided Senior Network Engineers, performs routine maintenance tasks, and monitors network health using Rolls-Royce-provided tools (e.g., SolarWinds) to triage and resolve alerts. The Intermediate Network Engineer troubleshoots and resolves moderate network issues, escalating complex problems to Senior Network Engineers as needed, while participating in 24/7/365 coverage. This role updates network documentation to support team knowledge sharing and reporting, assists Senior Network Engineers with design implementation and automation tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Configure network devices: Configure and update network devices (e.g. routers, switches, firewalls) based on designs provided by Senior network Engineers to ensure optimal performance and alignment with Rolls-Royce’s IT infrastructure requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance: Execute routine maintenance tasks on network devices to sustain network availability and reliability during 24/7 operations, addressing issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
- Monitor network health: Use Rolls-Royce-provided tools (e.g. SolarWinds) to monitor network performance, triage alerts, and resolve moderate network issues to maintain operational continuity across U.S. sites.
- Troubleshoot and escalate issues: Diagnose and resolve moderate network problems, escalating complex issues to Senior Network Engineers as needed, while ensuring timely resolution to meet SLA requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance or higher prior to start.
- Undergraduate/bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering or Administration.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with enterprise IT environments, including networks, servers, and security protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience with Department of Defense (DoD) environments and requirements.
- Certifications: One of the following required within 90 days of hire: CISM, CCNA, or CISA
- Experience supporting U.S. defense or government networks with stringent compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, DFARS).
- Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies and multi-cloud network integration.
- Previous experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) supporting 24/7 operations.
- Additional certifications such as Fortinet NSE 7, CISSP, or ITIL v4 Foundation.
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly Systems Engineers, to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to analyzing operational patterns and identifying opportunities for automation, such as predictive alerting.
- Knowledge of SIEM and Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems (e.g., Splunk, ArcSight) and network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) to enhance incident management and anomaly detection.
- Communication and Training: Ability to advise and train NOC staff on adopting new automation processes, fostering a culture of efficiency and innovation.
Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is [$71,532 - $149,026]. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
