We are currently seeking a Accounting Specialist (Billing) to join our team in Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (MY-14), Malaysia (MY).

 

Role Objective:

 

To establish a single point of accountability within country finance to stabilise billing operations, strengthen governance and drive sustainable improvement.

This role will act as the in‑country Billing Subject Matter Expert (SME), strengthening governance, quality control and accountability over the O2C billing team.

The focus is on reducing unbilled revenue, billing errors, disputes, customer complaints and SLA breaches through proactive monitoring, timely intervention and process improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 Billing Quality & Accuracy

  • Review, reconcile and validate complex, high-risk billings prior to invoicing.
  • Identify & analyse root causes of billing errors, credit notes, re-bills and customer disputes.
  • Monitor and analyse unbilled reports and follow-up items with the O2C billing team.
  • Establish and enforce billing quality control checks to reduce error rates and rework.
  • Perform other billing‑related operational duties as assigned by management.

O2C Billing Team Management & Supervision

  • Provide close operational oversight of the O2C billing team’s daily performance and output.
  • Monitor team performance against agreed SLAs, turnaround times and response quality standards.
  • Proactively challenge delays, incomplete responses and backlog accumulation, escalating where required.

Governance & Tracking

  • Maintain and enhance all billing and e-invoicing trackers to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure proper tracking of follow-ups and closure of outstanding items with clearly assigned ownership.
  • Provide regular status updates to management on billing performance, risks & outstanding issues.
  • Supports the implementation of written policies and procedures that govern billing operations.
  • Support audit queries and balance sheet reviews related to billing activities.

Process Improvement

  • Identify control gaps and operational weaknesses causing recurring issues.
  • Collaborate with O2C billing team & internal stakeholders to improve billing workflows, standardizing process and drive automation initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary escalation point for unresolved or repeated billing issues.
  • Proactively reduce customer complaints & address escalations professionally.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting or professional qualification
  • Minimum working experience of 3+ years, preferably in an accounting firm and/or MNC
  • Excellent communication skills & proficient in English
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint etc). Oracle / SAP user knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills  critical thinking
  • Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Results oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and a team player
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff
