We are currently seeking a FinOps Engineer to join our team in Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (MY-14), Malaysia (MY).

FinOps Engineer

The FinOps Engineer will be responsible for optimizing cloud financial operations across AWS, OCI, and other cloud platforms used within the insurance organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep understanding of cloud cost models, and hands‑on experience with automation, reporting, governance, and cross‑department collaboration. The engineer will work closely with Cloud Engineering, Finance, Security, and Application teams to ensure cost transparency, accurate forecasting, and efficient cloud usage aligned with regulatory and business requirements in the insurance sector.

Cloud Cost Management & Optimization
Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud spend across AWS, OCI, and hybrid environments.
Implement cost‑saving strategies such as rightsizing, reserved instances, autoscaling, and storage lifecycle policies.
Develop automated cost dashboards and reports using tools like AWS Cost Explorer, OCI Cost Analysis, CloudHealth, or custom Python scripts.
Identify cost anomalies and drive corrective actions with engineering teams.

Governance & Compliance (Insurance Sector)
Establish cloud financial governance aligned with insurance regulatory requirements (e.g., data residency, auditability, cost traceability).
Implement tagging standards, chargeback/showback models, and cost allocation frameworks across business units (Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Customer Platforms).
Work with Finance to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reconciliation.

Automation & Tooling
Build automation for cost reporting, anomaly detection, and budget alerts using Python, Terraform, and cloud-native tools.
Integrate FinOps workflows into CI/CD pipelines to enforce cost policies during deployment.
Maintain dashboards using PowerBI, Grafana, QuickSight, or OCI Analytics.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with Cloud Engineering to design cost‑efficient architectures.
Work with Product Owners and Business Managers to explain cost drivers and recommend optimizations.
Conduct FinOps training and awareness sessions for engineering teams.

Monitoring & Insights
Track KPIs such as cost per policy, cost per claim, cost per workload, and unit economics relevant to insurance operations.
Provide insights to leadership on cloud spend trends, ROI, and financial risks.

Cloud Platforms
Strong understanding of AWS and OCI pricing models, billing structures, and cost optimization tools.
Experience with multi‑cloud cost management platforms (CloudHealth, Apptio, Flexera, Cloudability).

Automation & Scripting
Proficiency in Python for cost automation, API integrations, and anomaly detection.
Experience with Terraform for tagging enforcement and cost‑aware provisioning.

Data & Reporting
Strong skills in PowerBI, QuickSight, Grafana, or OCI Analytics.
Ability to build automated dashboards and financial reports.

Governance & Compliance
Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements (audit trails, data residency, cost transparency).
Experience implementing tagging standards, budgets, alerts, and chargeback models.

FinOps Certified Professional (advanced)
AWS Cloud Financial Management Certification
Azure Cost Management Specialty
Google Cloud Digital Leader (cost governance awareness)
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) (insurance compliance relevance)
Power BI Data Analyst Associate (for reporting)

Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

Excellent communication skills to explain cost concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Ability to collaborate across Finance, Cloud, Security, and Product teams.

High ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
