We are currently seeking a Senior Cisco Wireless Engineer (REMOTE) to join our team! This is a fully remote role with can be based anywhere in the US.
The highly skilled Senior Wireless Engineer will design, implement, and optimize enterprise wireless networks. This role requires deep expertise in Cisco wireless technologies, network security, and integration with enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will lead troubleshooting efforts, implement best practices, and ensure high availability and secure connectivity across corporate and guest networks.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Wireless Network Design & Optimization
- Develop and implement best-practice configurations for corporate wireless networks, including certificate management and desktop standards.
- Ensure seamless SSID broadcasting and connectivity for both corporate and guest networks.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Resolve AP discovery issues caused by DNS/DHCP misconfigurations and ensure proper controller association.
- Diagnose and fix connectivity issues, including incomplete guest network setups and AD authentication failures.
- Integration & Security
- Integrate wireless authentication with Active Directory and coordinate with internal teams for service setup.
- Implement secure guest network solutions with proper isolation and firewall configurations.
- Controller Management & High Availability
- Upgrade and configure Cisco 9800 controllers for HA, adapting to changes in newer revisions.
- Conduct failover testing and validate redundancy for Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs).
- Infrastructure Assessment
- Evaluate existing cabling for guest network virtual router deployment; recommend upgrades if necessary.
- Documentation & Standards
- Review and update network documentation, including port descriptions and floor layouts.
- Maintain accurate records of configurations and cleanup inconsistencies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise:
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise wireless networking.
- 7+ years of strong hands-on experience with Cisco wireless solutions (WLCs, APs, 9800 series controllers).
- 7+ years of proficiency in DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network isolation techniques.
- Security & Integration:
- 5+ Experience with Active Directory integration for wireless authentication.
- 5+ years of knowledge of certificate management and secure wireless standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Problem-Solving:
- Ability to troubleshoot complex wireless issues and implement scalable solutions.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Cisco CCNP Wireless or equivalent.
- CWNP certifications (CWNA, CWSP) are a plus.
