Senior Java Developer - Hybrid Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Java Developer - Hybrid Position to join our team in Montreal, Quebec (CA-QC), Canada (CA).

Day-to-Day Job Duties

• Design, develop, and implement scalable, high‑performance, and flexible backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful microservices that support enterprise‑grade applications.
• Integrate backend services with Kafka for event-driven architectures.
• Work with relational and distributed data storage systems including DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Implement unit tests using JUnit and ensure adequate code coverage.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, grooming, and retrospectives.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver timely fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Product Owners, QA, DevOps, and Architecture—to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Use Unix/Linux for scripting, application deployment, and operational support activities.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, leveraging tools integrated with Git and automated deployment pipelines.
• Review code written by team members and mentor junior developers.
• Stay updated on emerging backend technologies, Java ecosystem upgrades, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
• 7+ years of experience in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and core Java programming concepts.
• 5+ years of experience working with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and building RESTful microservices.
• 3+ years of experience integrating backend services with Kafka.
• 3+ years of experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA.
• Hands-on experience with relational and distributed databases - DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, including version control using Git.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, including scripting.
• Experience writing unit tests using JUnit and implementing automated testing practices.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Banking or financial industry experience.
• Experience working with XML and JSON processing.
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise systems, regulatory environments, or secure coding practices.
• Project lead or team leadership experience.

Preferred Location: Montreal - Client site / Hybrid. 

Degree:

• Bachelor’s in computer science, Engineering, or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

Tâches quotidiennes

Concevoir, développer et implémenter des solutions backend évolutives, performantes et flexibles en utilisant Java et Spring Boot.

Créer et maintenir des microservices RESTful pour des applications d'entreprise.

Intégrer les services backend avec Kafka pour les architectures événementielles.

Gérer les systèmes de stockage de données relationnels et distribués, notamment DB2, Oracle et PostgreSQL.

Écrire du code propre, maintenable et testable, en respectant les bonnes pratiques et les normes de codage.

Implémenter des tests unitaires avec JUnit et garantir une couverture de code adéquate.

Participer aux cérémonies Agile : planification de sprint, réunions quotidiennes, grooming et rétrospectives.

Résoudre les problèmes de production, analyser leurs causes profondes et déployer des correctifs rapidement.

Collaborer avec les équipes transversales (Product Owners, QA, DevOps et Architecture) pour fournir des solutions logicielles de haute qualité.

Utiliser Unix/Linux pour le scripting, le déploiement d'applications et le support opérationnel. Contribuer aux processus CI/CD en tirant parti des outils intégrés à Git et des pipelines de déploiement automatisés.

Revoir le code écrit par les membres de l'équipe et encadrer les développeurs juniors.

Se tenir informé(e) des technologies backend émergentes, des mises à jour de l'écosystème Java et des meilleures pratiques du secteur.

Qualifications requises :

Plus de 7 ans d'expérience pratique en développement Java.

Plus de 7 ans d'expérience en conception orientée objet (OO) et en concepts fondamentaux de la programmation Java.

Plus de 5 ans d'expérience avec Spring Framework, Spring Boot et la création de microservices RESTful.

Plus de 3 ans d'expérience en intégration de services backend avec Kafka.

Plus de 3 ans d'expérience avec des frameworks ORM tels que Hibernate/JPA.

Expérience pratique des bases de données relationnelles et distribuées : DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL.

Expérience pratique des pipelines CI/CD, notamment du contrôle de version avec Git.

Connaissance pratique des environnements Unix/Linux, y compris le scripting.

Expérience en rédaction de tests unitaires avec JUnit et en mise en œuvre de pratiques de tests automatisés. Solides compétences en analyse, débogage et résolution de problèmes.

Qualifications souhaitées :

Expérience dans le secteur bancaire ou financier.

Expérience du traitement XML et JSON.

Connaissance des systèmes d’entreprise à grande échelle, des environnements réglementaires ou des pratiques de codage sécurisé.

Expérience en gestion de projet ou d’équipe.
