Quality Engineer — Consultant
Role Overview
The Quality Engineer Consultant will design, build, and execute automated testing strategies for S&P Global’s AI-enabled and enterprise software platforms. This role will cover testing across React applications, APIs, Python services, C#/.NET components, SQL databases, AI agents, RAG pipelines, MCP integrations, and enterprise workflows.
The consultant will help ensure that S&P Global’s software and AI systems are reliable, accurate, secure, traceable, performant, and production ready.
This role requires strong test automation skills, programming ability, SQL expertise, and an understanding of how to validate both traditional deterministic applications and non-deterministic AI/LLM-based systems.
Consultant Engagement Expectations
The consultant will be expected to rapidly understand project scope, application architecture, test strategy, quality standards, release processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
The consultant will deliver automated test frameworks, test scripts, validation reports, defect analysis, quality documentation, and handover materials for S&P Global internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for enterprise applications, APIs, data pipelines, AI services, and user interfaces.
- Test React JS front-end applications for functional behavior, UX flows, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, data accuracy, and performance.
Validate backend services.
- Create SQL-based validation scripts to verify data accuracy, completeness, consistency, reconciliation, and transformation logic.
- Validate AI agent workflows, LLM outputs, RAG accuracy, MCP server integrations, prompt behavior, tool-calling logic, and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Develop automated test cases for functional, regression, integration, API, UI, performance, security, accessibility, and data validation testing.
- Build AI evaluation frameworks to assess groundedness, relevance, hallucination risk, consistency, safety, policy adherence, and response quality.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects, integration issues, data mismatches, AI response failures, and production incidents.
- Collaborate with AI Engineers, React Engineers, Data Modelers, Product Owners, and Architects to define acceptance criteria and test coverage.
- Document test strategy, test cases, automation design, quality risks, defect summaries, test results, and handover instructions.
- Provide knowledge transfer to S&P Global internal QA, engineering, and product teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong experience in quality engineering, software testing, and test automation.
- Strong SQL skills for database validation, data reconciliation, and test data analysis.
- Experience testing APIs, microservices, web applications, data pipelines, and enterprise platforms.
- Experience testing React JS applications and validating front-end workflows.
- Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of AI/ML testing concepts, including LLM response validation, prompt regression testing, RAG evaluation, model output validation, and agent workflow testing.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify edge cases, failure modes, and quality risks in complex systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing AI agents, MCP server integrations, LLM applications, RAG systems, vector search, or intelligent workflow automation.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, market intelligence, ratings, risk, commodities, or regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, LoadRunner, or Gatling.
- Experience with accessibility testing, UX validation, and front-end testing for React applications.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with test data management, service virtualization, contract testing, and observability tools.
