Systems Engineer Senior Specialist - Build & Release Engineer

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of the Release Management Lifecycle within multiple platforms across NTT Data client’s public and private clouds.  At present, that consists of vSphere on-premise, as well as Azure and AWS public cloud platforms.
  • Scheduling, coordinating and managing releases across the enterprise for multiple applications across various portfolios. The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, infrastructure provisioning and upgrades.
  • Provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production.
  • Manage the release processes for code through development, test, and production environments.   Work collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and support developers and testers as they set up their environments.
  • Work with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.
  • Build and maintain a centralized Release Calendar across multiple towers, maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
  • Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release and change scope and/or roadblocks
  • Lead the effort of defining the IT strategic direction for release management tools for IT to ensure the process requirements of release management are built in.
  • Assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence to ensure the integrity of the release can be measured.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in computer-related discipline, or equivalent experience and certifications
  • 2+ years of experience implementing or managing IaaS and PaaS solutions in either Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • 2+ years of experience implementing or managing Azure or AWS Platform and Infrastructure services (PaaS services, VM’s, storage, VNets, Subnets, NSG’s, Resource Groups, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps concepts and processes
  • 2+ years of release and/or project management experience
  • Operational experience with Source Code Management (GIT). Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): using Azure or AWS DevOps, Git, GitHub, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge in Cloud Governance, security operations, and implementations
  • Excellent communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment. Should thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment which requires wearing many hats, being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn new technologies as needed.

 

Other desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience with the use of containers and container orchestration solutions such as Kubernetes or Nomad
  • Azure or AWS Certifications
  • Operational experience with Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Ansible Playbooks or Terraform templates and scripting tools, including PowerShell, Azure CLI, Shell scripts, Python, or similar languages
  • VMWare vSphere experience and certifications
