AI Solution Architect with SLED for North America
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AI Solutions Architect to design and deliver artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions for state agencies, local governments, K-12 districts, and higher education systems.
This role will partner with public sector executives, agency leaders, CIOs, CTOs, chief data officers, program leaders, security teams, academic stakeholders, and delivery teams to translate mission and operational challenges into scalable, responsible AI-enabled solutions.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of SLED operating environments, public sector data ecosystems, cloud architecture, digital services, cybersecurity, compliance, procurement dynamics, and responsible AI practices. This person will lead solution design across areas such as constituent services, benefits administration, permitting, public safety support, transportation, workforce services, education operations, student services, grants management, contact centers, case management, and administrative automation.

What You’ll Do
- Design end-to-end AI and generative AI solutions for SLED use cases, including architecture, data flows, integration patterns, model selection, governance, security, accessibility, privacy, and deployment approach.
- Partner with state, local, and education stakeholders to identify high-value AI opportunities, define mission outcomes, assess feasibility, and shape implementation roadmaps.
- Lead solutioning for SLED-specific domains such as citizen services, eligibility and enrollment, human services, health and human services, labor and workforce, tax and revenue, motor vehicles, transportation, public safety operations support, judicial administration, permitting, licensing, inspections, procurement, education administration, and student services.
- Develop reference architectures using cloud platforms, data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, MLOps pipelines, APIs, integration platforms, case management systems, workflow tools, enterprise search, and digital service platforms.
- Guide teams on applying large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, predictive analytics, natural language processing, document intelligence, intelligent automation, chatbots, knowledge management, and decision support in public sector and education settings.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product owners, program SMEs, security architects, privacy officers, accessibility specialists, compliance teams, and delivery leaders to move concepts from prototype to production.
- Define responsible AI controls, including model monitoring, explainability, human-in-the-loop review, bias assessment, auditability, records retention, data lineage, privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, and public transparency.
- Support pre-sales and client advisory activities, including solution presentations, proposals, estimates, demos, workshops, executive briefings, innovation strategy sessions, and grant- or budget-aligned solution planning.
- Evaluate vendor platforms and AI tools across cloud, digital government, education technology, case management, constituent engagement, workflow automation, cybersecurity, analytics, and enterprise content management ecosystems.
- Create reusable assets, including SLED AI solution blueprints, architecture patterns, implementation playbooks, data requirements, governance frameworks, procurement-ready language, and value case templates.
Location: Remote within the United States.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, data science, public administration, education technology, analytics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in technology architecture, data architecture, analytics, AI/ML, enterprise solution delivery, or public sector technology consulting.
- 4+ years of experience supporting state government, local government, higher education, K-12 education, public sector agencies, or public institutions.
- Hands-on experience designing AI, machine learning, generative AI, analytics, automation, or digital service solutions in production environments.
- Strong understanding of SLED business and mission processes, including constituent services, program eligibility, case management, permitting, licensing, inspections, grants, procurement, education administration, student services, contact centers, and public-facing digital services.
- Experience with public sector data, integration, and security considerations, including identity and access management, data sharing, records management, privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, auditability, and compliance.
- Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including data, AI, security, integration, governance, and compliance services.
- Familiarity with modern AI patterns such as RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, model evaluation, MLOps, LLMOps, AI governance, model risk management, and responsible AI controls.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive, program, academic, operational, legal, procurement, security, and technical audiences.
- Strong consulting, facilitation, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, data science, public administration, education technology, analytics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in technology architecture, data architecture, analytics, AI/ML, enterprise solution delivery, or public sector technology consulting.
- 4+ years of experience supporting state government, local government, higher education, K-12 education, public sector agencies, or public institutions.

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $119,578 - $221,625. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
