SAP S/4HANA Public Sector Finance Consultant / Lead

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Public Sector Finance Consultant / Lead with 8–10 years of experience in SAP Finance, including strong expertise in Public Sector Management, Funds Management, Grants Management, and core Finance integrations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives for public sector clients, with responsibility for solution design, conversion, migration, integration, testing, and reconciliation across finance and grants-related workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support SAP S/4HANA Finance conversion/implementation activities for Public Sector clients across FM, GM, AP, AR, CO, PS, AA, Bank Accounting, T&E, and Public Sector GL.
• Convert Classic Budgeting to S/4HANA Funds Management (BCS), including migration of budget structure, budget versions, budget documents, and open commitments.
• Rebuild and validate FMDERIVE, Availability Control (AVC), and budget carryforward configuration to meet public sector budgetary control requirements.
• Migrate and validate Grants Management objects including Sponsored Class, Sponsored Program, Grant Master, grant validity, budgeting, billing integration, indirect costs, cost share, and revenue recognition.
• Convert vendor and customer master data to Business Partner (BP) and migrate open AP/AR items and balances.
• Validate AP/AR integration with Funds Accounting, including fund derivation, commitment updates, grant posting logic, revenue postings, and billing processes.
• Reconfigure and test payment program, check printing, ACH, lockbox, positive pay, EBS, and Bank Accounting integration, including S/4HANA Cash Management where applicable.
• Convert Cost Centers, Internal Orders, Statistical Key Figures, WBS elements, asset master data, asset values, and depreciation areas along with required open balances, commitments, and actuals.
• Rebuild and validate allocation cycles, assessments, distributions, overhead costing, PS settlement rules, and budget controls in S/4HANA.
• Convert Classic Asset Accounting to New Asset Accounting and validate AUC settlement, grant-funded assets, parallel depreciation, and GL-to-subledger reconciliation.
• Lead migration of Public Sector GL from legacy structures including PSFLFLEXT/FAGLFLEXT to ACDOCA, ensuring reconciliation and validation of public sector dimensions such as Fund, Funded Program, Grant, Functional Area, Commitment Item, and Budget Period.
• Perform end-to-end integration testing, reconciliation, defect resolution, and cutover support to ensure successful deployment.
• Prepare and maintain project deliverables including functional specifications, configuration documents, test scripts, reconciliation reports, validation reports, and cutover plans.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8–10 years of SAP Finance experience with strong functional expertise in SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
• Proven experience in SAP Public Sector Management, especially:

• • Funds Management (FM)
  • Grants Management (GM)
  • Public Sector General Ledger

• Hands-on experience with at least one SAP S/4HANA implementation or conversion project.
• Strong knowledge of finance integration across: AP, AR, CO, PS, AA, Banking.
• Good to have knowledge of FICA module from Utilities industry stand-point.
• Experience with: Business Partner conversion, New Asset Accounting, Universal Journal (ACDOCA), Data migration and reconciliation, Testing and cutover support
