Senior Data & AI Engineer – Remote

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data & AI Engineer to design and build high-performance data and AI solutions using Apache Spark, Azure Databricks, cloud data platforms, and modern generative AI technologies.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert who can architect and implement scalable data ingestion pipelines across structured and unstructured data sources while also applying LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AIOps to solve complex business and technology challenges.

This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across data engineering, cloud architecture, and AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize high-performance data ingestion and processing pipelines using Apache Spark and Azure Databricks.
• Build scalable solutions for ingesting and processing structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Develop production-grade data solutions using PySpark, Scala, SQL, and/or Python.
• Design and implement modern cloud-based data architectures, leveraging technologies such as AWS S3 and related cloud data services.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AIOps.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise data platforms and applications.
• Optimize distributed data processing workloads for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement data engineering CI/CD pipelines and follow modern DevOps and software engineering practices.
• Apply data warehousing and lakehouse concepts using technologies such as Delta Lake and SQL.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex data and application issues and drive solutions through to implementation.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Databricks, including PySpark, Scala, and/or SQL.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience using Python, Scala, Java, or a similar programming language.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-based data architectures, preferably with AWS S3 and related cloud services.
• 5+ years of experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment practices for data engineering solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with data warehousing and lakehouse technologies, including Delta Lake and SQL.
• 5+ years of experience with distributed computing, big data processing, performance tuning, and optimization.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, and/or AIOps.
• Strong understanding of modern data engineering and AI architecture patterns.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.

We are looking for someone who combines deep data engineering expertise with practical AI experience. You should be comfortable moving from architecture and design through hands-on development, deployment, performance optimization, and production support.

Experience building enterprise-scale data platforms, AI-powered solutions, and cloud-native applications is highly valued.

Pay Transparency

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $115,358-$213,625. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. 

This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
