Strategy & Planning Advisor – State, Local & Education (SLED) Business Unit

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Strategy & Planning Advisor to support the growth and success of NTT DATA’s State, Local & Education (SLED) business unit. This role will be responsible for shaping strategic priorities, driving business planning, and supporting execution to accelerate revenue growth and expand market share across the SLED sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, market analysis, and business operations, with a passion for helping public sector clients achieve better outcomes through technology and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning & Execution
• Partner with the SLED leadership team to define business priorities, growth strategies, and annual operating plans.
• Translate strategic goals into actionable initiatives, ensuring alignment across sales, delivery, marketing, and partner teams.
• Market & Competitive Analysis
• Conduct market research and analyze industry trends, funding streams, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.
• Provide insights and recommendations that inform go-to-market approaches and investment decisions.
• Performance Management
• Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs to track progress against strategic and financial goals.
• Support business reviews and executive reporting with clear insights and recommendations.
• Growth Enablement
• Work with partners/alliance, sales, practices and solution leaders to identify new opportunities in digital government, data-driven decision-making, cybersecurity, and education transformation.
• Support the creation of business cases, investment proposals, and pursuit strategies for major opportunities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with corporate strategy, finance, operations, and marketing teams to ensure SLED objectives are aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Act as a connector across the business unit to accelerate decision-making and improve execution.

Requirements

• 8+ years in strategy, business planning, or management consulting, ideally with exposure to the public sector or technology industry.
• Strong understanding of SLED markets, including procurement cycles, funding sources, and policy drivers.
• Proven ability to synthesize data and insights into clear recommendations for senior executives.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and structured thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in business analytics tools (Excel, PowerPoint, BI platforms).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in or advising State, Local, or Education agencies.
• Familiarity with IT services, cloud, data, or digital transformation solutions for the public sector.
• Experience supporting senior executives in strategic decision-making and operational planning.
