Palo Alto Firewall Engineer


We are seeking a network engineer to provide maintenance and operations for our cloud services solution.  The ideal candidate will have experience with Palo Alto layer seven firewall appliances for Microsoft and Google platforms. This position will also provide performance and analysis status reports, proactively monitor issues and concerns, and perform incident and after-action reporting.  The engineer will be responsible for taking over services for highly available infrastructure routers.   Experience with Palo Alto is required.   


Must demonstrate experience of at least 5 years of progressive experience and responsibility 

The engineer will lead configuration changes and ongoing maintenance for Palo Alto level seven firewalls in all development lifecycle environments 

Extensive background in internetworking, LAN, and WAN technologies required 

Build custom security policies and application signatures to mitigate advanced web-based threats 

Maintain and enhance existing highly available configurations in each environment 

Provide knowledge transfer to team members for custom configuration changes 

Create and maintain environment documentation for all configurations 

Deep skills with at least one Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment tool: Terraform, Ansible 

Design, implement, and deploy across distributed platforms  

Create reports for performance analysis and troubleshooting, capacity planning, incident after action, root cause analysis, etc. 

Experience with integrated Enterprise security log shipping 

Adhere to security guidelines established by the Information Security Officer (ISO) 

Experience with IDS/IPS solutions and technologies 

Experience leading security solutions in large environments 

Deep understanding of different security threats, internet protocols, and applications 

Display detailed technical experience in the configuration, and operation of Palo Alto layer seven firewall appliances 

Strong TCP/IP networking skills 

Mentor team members in a collaborative environment 

Can effectively handle many different tasks at a time 


Education and experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering or Industry certification in Networking 

• Experience with Palo Alto appliance routers and cloud-based implementation  

• Deep skills with Palo Alto routing appliances management and operations 

• Should be experienced in working in distributed cloud environments 

Required skills and qualifications 

• Desire to learn and apply new technologies 

• Expertise in cloud platforms  

• Excellent written and verbal communication 

• Ability to manage assignments with minimal supervision 

• Create documentation and reports as needed by project team members 

• Ability to think critically and solve problems 


Need Minimum years of experience 

Palo Alto experience within last 3 years 

5-10 years of physical and virtual networking experience 

1-3 experience with one Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment tool: Terraform, Ansible

In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rules, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position who works in Colorado is $130,000 - $165,000. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on a number of factors, including work location, relevant experience (internal or external), technical skills, and other qualifications. The candidate may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on personal and/or company performance.
