Senior Dynamics 365/Power Platform - Techno-Functional Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Dynamics 365 CE & Power Platform Techno-Functional Consultant to support solution discovery, business analysis, functional design, technical solution design, development, and advanced troubleshooting across our Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform ecosystem.

The successful candidate will combine deep functional knowledge of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) with strong hands-on technical capabilities across Power Platform, Dataverse, integrations, extensibility, and ALM/DevOps. This is not solely a development role. The consultant must be comfortable working directly with business stakeholders to understand business problems, analyze and document processes and requirements, identify solution options, and translate those requirements into scalable enterprise solutions.

The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable facilitating a requirements workshop, configuring a Dynamics 365 solution, designing a Dataverse data model, defining integration requirements, reviewing a plugin or JavaScript implementation, troubleshooting production issues, and working with development teams through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in requirements discovery, stakeholder interviews, workshops, process analysis, and solution-design sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage business, functional, non-functional, data, integration, security, and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, process flows, data models, integration requirements, and solution designs.
  • Analyze existing business processes, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions using Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform capabilities, favouring configuration and native platform capabilities where appropriate.
  • Provide senior-level functional expertise across Dynamics 365 CE, particularly Customer Service and Field Service, including case management, queues, routing, SLAs, entitlements, knowledge management, work orders, scheduling, resource management, and related processes.
  • Design, configure, develop, and enhance Model-Driven Apps and Canvas Apps using Microsoft and enterprise best practices.
  • Design and configure Dataverse tables, relationships, forms, views, business rules, business process flows, security roles, teams, and access models.
  • Design and implement automation using Power Automate, platform-native automation capabilities, Custom APIs, and other appropriate technologies.
  • Develop and review advanced extensions including C# plugins, JavaScript/TypeScript client-side customizations, Custom APIs, custom connectors, PCF components, and other Dataverse extensions where required.
  • Assess requirements and determine the appropriate implementation approach across configuration, low-code/no-code, custom development, integration, and third-party solutions.
  • Define and support integrations between Dynamics 365/Dataverse and enterprise systems using APIs, Azure services, Power Platform connectors, and other integration patterns.
  • Develop and maintain Power Pages solutions for external-facing business processes where required.
  • Design and support Power BI reporting and analytics utilizing Dynamics 365 and Dataverse data.
  • Participate in solution architecture and design reviews, ensuring solutions meet requirements for scalability, maintainability, performance, security, supportability, and Microsoft platform best practices.
  • Support application lifecycle management (ALM), environment strategy, solution management, source control, automated deployments, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps/Git.
  • Lead or support system integration testing, UAT planning, defect triage, production deployment, hypercare, and operational transition.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting of complex Dynamics 365 and Power Platform issues across configuration, custom code, integrations, automation, security, and data.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, developers, testers, support teams, and offshore delivery resources.
  • Provide technical and functional guidance to development teams, including design direction, code reviews, troubleshooting support, and implementation oversight.
  • Produce and maintain appropriate solution documentation, including requirements documentation, functional designs, technical designs, architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, deployment documentation, and support knowledge.
  • Being available to work Eastern Time Zone hours is a must for this role

  • Ability to translate complex business processes into appropriate Dynamics 365 configurations and solution designs.

Business Analysis / Consulting

  • Demonstrated experience performing business analysis within enterprise application implementations or sustainment environments.
  • Strong requirements elicitation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience facilitating discovery sessions, requirements workshops, process-mapping sessions, and solution-design workshops.

  • Ability to diagnose problems using platform tracing, plugin trace logs, browser tooling, API testing tools, Azure/Application Insights or equivalent diagnostic capabilities.

Integration / Architecture

  • Experience designing and supporting integrations between Dynamics 365/Dataverse and external enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, OAuth, Microsoft Entra ID authentication, webhooks, service endpoints, and event-driven integration patterns.
  • Experience with relevant Azure integration technologies such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, or equivalent services is highly desirable.
  • Ability to evaluate solution approaches and clearly articulate technical trade-offs.

DevOps / ALM
