Role Summary

NTT DATA Services is seeking a Java Full Stack Developer to design, build, deploy, and support secure, scalable digital products. This role combines modern Java back-end development, responsive front-end engineering, and practical Google Cloud Platform (GCP) delivery. You will contribute throughout the software lifecycle: translating requirements into technical solutions, developing APIs and user-facing features, automating deployments, monitoring production services, and continuously improving quality and performance.

The role also provides the opportunity to design or integrate AI-enabled capabilities into applications, using services such as Vertex AI or Gemini APIs where appropriate. You will work closely with product, design, quality assurance, cloud, data, and AI specialists to deliver maintainable solutions that provide measurable value to users and the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and [React / Angular / Vue.js / preferred framework].
• Build secure, scalable, well-documented RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, Hibernate, and JPA.
• Develop responsive, accessible, and maintainable web interfaces using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end development practices.
• Design and implement data persistence solutions using relational and/or NoSQL technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cloud SQL, Firestore, or other appropriate platforms.
• Deploy and operate cloud-native applications on GCP using relevant services such as Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, API Gateway, Secret Manager, IAM, and Cloud Build.
• Implement asynchronous and event-driven integrations using Pub/Sub or comparable messaging patterns where required by the solution architecture.
• Integrate AI-enabled features using relevant services and patterns, including Vertex AI, Gemini APIs, LLM APIs, semantic search, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), under established security and architecture standards.
• Apply secure coding practices, including authentication and authorization, input validation, API protection, secrets management, dependency security, and least-privilege access controls.
• Write and maintain automated unit, integration, API, and front-end tests; investigate defects and improve application reliability.
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows to support repeatable, controlled, and efficient deployments.
• Monitor service health, logs, errors, and performance using Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and related observability tooling; support investigation and resolution of production issues.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and cross-functional planning with product managers, UX/UI designers, QA engineers, architects, and other engineers.

Required Qualifications

a. Programming and Full Stack Skills

• Strong programming proficiency in Java, including modern language features, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, concurrency, exception handling, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on back-end development experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, and Hibernate / JPA.
• Experience designing, developing, documenting, securing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Front-end development experience with [React / Angular / Vue.js / preferred framework], JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including database modelling, querying, transaction handling, data integrity, and performance considerations.
• Familiarity with technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Bigtable, MongoDB, or comparable data platforms.

b. GCP and Cloud Engineering Skills

• Practical experience building, deploying, or supporting applications on Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with relevant GCP services such as Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Secret Manager, IAM, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Monitoring.
• Understanding of cloud-native design principles, containerized applications, scalability, resilience, configuration management, and environment-specific deployments.
• Familiarity with API Gateway, Cloud Functions, or App Engine is advantageous where relevant to the product architecture.
• Experience troubleshooting cloud application, networking, integration, configuration, or deployment issues.

c. AI and Data-Related Skills

• Practical experience or strong working knowledge of integrating AI capabilities into business applications using Vertex AI, Gemini APIs, generative AI services, or other LLM APIs.
• Understanding of AI application concepts such as prompt engineering, embeddings, semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model output validation, and responsible AI practices.
• Ability to assess AI integrations with attention to data privacy, security, reliability, cost, performance, and user experience.
• Experience designing data flows and integrations between application services, databases, messaging platforms, and external APIs.

d. Software Engineering Practices

• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, clean code, separation of concerns, design patterns, and domain-driven design concepts where appropriate.
• Experience with Git-based source control, pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies, and collaborative engineering workflows.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated tests, including unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests as appropriate.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, build automation, release management, and deployment validation.
• Understanding of observability, structured logging, monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices and common application security risks.

e. Professional and Collaboration Skills

• Ability to collaborate effectively in an Agile delivery environment with product managers, UX/UI designers, QA engineers, architects, data/AI specialists, and developers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ownership mindset with the ability to support solutions from design through production operation.
• Ability to balance delivery needs with code quality, security, maintainability, and operational reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

• Google Cloud certifications, such as Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Developer, or Professional Cloud Architect.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, GKE, Helm, container orchestration, or service mesh technologies.
• Experience designing distributed systems, high-volume event-driven platforms, or resilient microservice architectures.
• Experience with additional programming languages such as Python, Go, or Node.js.
• Hands-on ML/AI engineering experience, including vector databases, RAG evaluation, model safety controls, AI observability, or agent-based workflows.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical workstreams, defining coding standards, or contributing to solution architecture.

What Success Looks Like in the First 6–12 Months

• Delivers reliable, production-ready full stack features that meet agreed functional, security, quality, and performance requirements.
• Establishes a strong understanding of the application architecture, product priorities, GCP environments, deployment processes, and engineering standards.
• Contributes maintainable Java services, APIs, front-end components, data integrations, and cloud configurations that integrate effectively with the wider platform.
• Improves service reliability through meaningful automated testing, code reviews, monitoring, documentation, refactoring, and timely resolution of defects.
• Supports stable releases through effective CI/CD practices, proactive observability, and responsive production issue investigation.
• Delivers or contributes to at least one practical AI-enabled capability aligned with product needs, technical architecture, security expectations, and responsible AI practices.
